Models as Props

I always love seeing models in movies as actual props.

Probably the most famous Example I can think of is Luke T-16 Skyhopper-

My favorite is probably From Fritz Lang's Woman in the Moon from 1929.

What notable "scale models as props" can you guys think of?

The Cylon Basestar miniature was used as a prop in several episodes of Battlestar Galactica.

I don't have screengrabs, but several of BSG TOS's ragtag fleet ended up displayed on shelves in an episode of Buck Rogers (the one with all the retired pilots).

Also, I assume we're using an expanded definition of "props" to include "set-dressing". As I understand it, props are handled by the actors, and set-dressing just sits around and looks cool.

Bill Murray has a replica of the Belefonte made from a Revell Ocean Exploration Vessel kit in "The Life Aquatic".

I know that a lot of rich guys like to have models as props...

Oh, wait. You were referring to small scale versions of objects... Silly me.

Wasn't there some movie that had a mesh-up of the Falcon and Enterprise in a kid's room?

Around 1987 or so I had the Enterprise and a Klingon ship painted all silver hanging from my ceiling like Roy did in CE3K. Might do it again some day:)

I remember in the movie Shadow Conspiracy with Charlie Sheen, the assassin in the film was rigging a remote control gun chopper (basically a flying miniature helicopter with a small mini gun on it, I think. It's been a while since I saw it). But I remember when he was testing the gun, it shot up a model of the Powerloader from Aliens. I could be wrong on that though.

Totally forgot about Galaxy Quest! Totally counts!

Indeed! :D

As far as Trek goes, aside from Picard's Stargazer ready room model, another one I've always liked was the re-use of the original 22" Galileo filming miniature in Troi's office.
