Andy3E is, sadly, quite correct. The circumstances are as follows..
MadLaw bid for and won a helmet being sold on ebay as a production lid. This came from a mysterious source with no provenance whatsoever, other than a handwritten note which appeared to be from a South African TalkRadio show host (bizarre and irrelevant). However, the helmet was compared against the Steve Noden repaired lid (now produced and sold by Lee Fields), by several persons with an intimate knowledge of several unique aspects of Steve's lid, resulting from the repairs he had to make, prior to production. I, personally, stopped counting at 15 such points, all of which were identical. One, in particular, which I had first pointed out to Steve, while checking another recast, is an absolute clincher.
Steve messaged MadLaw to ask him about this and inform him of what we had found. At this time MadLaw was still a member of, and selling through, the Facebook Judges groups. At this point, however, MadLaw ceased communications, left the groups, and I believe he blocked Steve, before selling solely on ebay, with these claims, for which he STILL has NO provenance whatsoever.
He was obviously the victim of a con and a recaster, himself. Buy he is now perpetuating and making handsome sums from recasting the work of another.
And that's how it went.
I hope this helps.
