==== end of update ====

People,

Been working on a new project over the past month, the Shae Visla Bounty Hunter Helmet from the SWTOR trailer "Deceived". It is the beginning of a full SWTOR BH armor build I plan on completing over the next few months. The helmet also appears in the game as part of the "Exalted" armor build, which is what my character is rocking at the moment.

I CAD modelled it using high rez screenshots and other 2D material, a process that took probably 80 hours since I am still learning the CAD process.

I then 3D printed the helmet on my FlashForge creator dual in pieces, a process that took 94 hours. Following that, I glued the pieces together using superglue, filled in all the gaps using BONDO, and smoothed the surface with spot putty.

I repeated the filling/smoothing/sanding several times, and finally primed it using self sealing automotive primer from DupliColor.

Once I touch up some small trouble areas, I will be ready to mold the helmet, and ultimately cold cast it in aluminum!

I have already completed the blaster pistol for my BH build, which is discussed at length on my website, mynocksden.com as well as in this thread.

I am in the process of updating my website, mynocksden.com with the new helmet build notes. Once I do that, I will update this thread with more photos as well!

Lol. Looks can be very deceiving. Between CAD modeling, printing and reprinting parts, filling in, and touchup, I'm well over 220 hours into this helmet. And I haven't molded it yet.

The walls are quite thick and it fits me with my big head well. It will fit any size head once it's molded and cast. I will post precise measurements once it's cast, which should be later today or tomorrow.

Re: SWTOR Mandalorian Bounty Hunter (Shae Vizla-style) WIP

Looks really sharp! I was contemplating printing this helmet myself. Looks like you beat me to it lol. Great to see another Canadian builder!

No kidding, eh? ;)

Thanks! I just couldn't pass it up. My character has this lid ingame and I wanted to make it as part of a SWTOR bounty hunter armor build I'm doing.

Re: SWTOR Mandalorian Bounty Hunter (Shae Vizla-style) WIP

Looks Awesome! how many individual pieces did you print for this?

The ears: 2 pieces
Ear stalk: 3 pieces
Mics: 2 pieces
Face: 1 piece
Visor middle: 1 piece
Cheeks: 2 pieces
Temples front and back: 4 pieces
Cranium front and back: 4 pieces
Sides (ear base): 2 pieces
Back: 1 piece

22 pieces. Took just over 94 hours to print everything.

I actually sized the model wrong the first time and after 60 hours of printing had to stop, resize the model and reprint everything.

I have documented every print and every step of this helmet's development with photos, and will be updating this thread shortly.

Wow, love the look of that helmet. :thumbsup

May be interested in one if you make them available.

Wow!!! This is amazing. Your hard work and time has really paid off. Can't wait to see this whole suit.

Re: SWTOR Mandalorian Bounty Hunter (Shae Vizla-style) WIP

Just WOW ! Add an orange tinted visor to that helmet and it's perfect.

Well done !!! :cheers
