1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll FINISHED!!!!

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

Sorry, I've just been very busy lately and haven't had much of a chance to work on this. I did, however, build a hard shell body for the torso and make hollow shell castings with the battery compartment in the back. This is more like how the originals were done and the way I will be building my next two dolls. I will update this thread later in the week showing how I did that. The hollow shell body also makes it possible to make an animatronic doll, which I hope to do someday.

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

I was thinking, for a soft-bodied Good Guy doll, would it be possible to modify one of the Zapf Creations 63cm tall Toddler dolls?

Or is that too small?

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

Sorry, been too busy to work on this, but I have a few more updates. First, I decided to make a hollow, hard shell torso because I hope to do an animatronic version someday. It'll need to be rigid and hollow to house the electronics. Sorry I didn't take more pics of this. I carved it out of foam, covered in bondo, sanded, smoothed, yada yada yada:

Made a mold:

There's some detail on the back of the battery compartment door that I decided to build into it so I don't have to scratch build it on every door I cast. I made a 2 part mold using the existing door mold I had as the first half of it. It's meant to be propped at an angle when pouring for proper air release:

Now the battery compartment is molded solid into the back of the doll. Mating it with the cloth body was never very structurally sound and tended to warp the thin resin parts.

I also created these handy stubs to attach to the shoes and hands so the cloth legs and arms attach easily:

This is what the cloth leg looks like attached to the shoe. I also added socks because the CP1 doll had socks:

I also got a few resin parts from Coinprop. First, because I wanted to make some adjustments to the casting and it's impossible to rework the rubber. Second, the urethane rubber parts yellow over time. While this is accurate to the screen-used dolls (some of them look almost brown today), I don't want my doll to turn amber colored in a few years, so I'm opting for resin parts.

In regards to the adjustments, I generally cleaned up the cast all around, but I also made a major adjustment to the neck. The hero dolls' necks tapered in at the bottom, but for some reason, Coinprop's neck flairs out (either it's compressed over time or it was something characteristic of the background dolls). Whatever the case, I made the adjustment to the neck and extended it slightly to fit my hard shell torso:

Here's a comparison of the old neck on the right (you can see how it bulges out towards the bottom) and my newly adjusted resin head on the left (tapers in at the bottom):

Here's a shot of the new resin head finished (but it still has the old wig. I haven't put the accurate NFT hair on it yet). There also a picture of all three dolls I currently have:

The one in the back is the old cloth body doll with rubber head and the two in front are resin heads with hard shell torsos. The clothes are still the original prototype set I made. The collar was meant to fit the old neck, so you can see it's a little too wide for this doll. I made two more sweaters and on these I corrected the neck:

He's still wearing the old overalls though. Lastly, I finally tested doing the silk screen transfers on the laces:

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

Loving it. My Chucky head looks MUCH better with his new eyes and hair now as well. :thumbsup

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

Would it be okay if I sculpted the head and then made a mold (which I still do not know how to do) and cast it with resin?

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

Just read the whole thread, and WOW! I've never seen any of the Child's Play/Chucky films, but thoroughly enjoy reading through builds with such high attention to detail :)

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

wow this is an amazing doll. seriously well done. how much money have you spent on making this? looks like abit!!!

Re: BUILD THREAD: 1:1 Scale Good Guy Chucky Doll

:thumbsup This truly creeped me out, but it's coming along pretty badass. Can't wait to see what you could do with an animatronic doll.
