Thank you Ray. Love what you're doing with the Eagle and Y-Wing build. Hope you're getting well.
I did some work front grille. This is the one that comes in the kit.
I first cut off the headlight fixtures and then cut off the sides of the grille using a regular Xacto blade and straight edge. I did several slow and steady light passes of the blade first to make a groove then started adding more pressure until the cut was complete.
Then I started dipping this into regular household bleach to remove the chrome.
After that, I took the center grille and cut off 3mm from both sides making it more narrow. Then I cut off the top section of the grille with the emblem on it and the bottom section. This now gave me a frame for the new grille I will be making. I also cut down the top hood ornament so a stub was left to match the Duel truck.
I also cut out a back piece to help hold the grille frame together. The back piece is 25 mm tall and 35 mm wide. The grille comes out to 44 mm high at the center and 36 mm wide.
Then it was time for the 17 grille vents. I first added a 1 mm styrene box inside the grille because the truck has something that looks like this. I used strips of 3 mm styrene cut 26 mm long for the vents. I glued these vent strips to another strip first because it was just easier for me to get them glued at an angle. I just used Plastruct Plastic Weld to glue these while holding the vents in place with tweezers.
Then after all 17 vents are in place, the final product...
Thanks for looking. Feel free to ask any questions, comments complaints etc.
