I have just stumbled onto this, and it's REALLY piqued my interest. I've been a closet Lovecraft fan for years (the curse of having "normal" friends though high school) so it's fair rad to see there are others who share in the nightmares.
I absolutely love the designs on both pieces, and the paint work is stellar. Keep it up, I'll be watching avidly.
I have thought about doing that. I think for this first run I'm going to keep it simple with a solid casting but I will eventually try out some transparent casting techniques down the line. Still learning this stuff.
It is exciting to see someone go down the R&D rabbit hole, explore and emerge victorious. I especially love the hand etched/inked base name plates which really sell the time period.
Thank you so much. Good to know that my efforts are appreciated!
The main idea behind the base was the fact that I wanted to sign and number the statues without marring the "replica" quality of the statue. Now with a separate base I can sign, number and brand the bottom of it while giving the whole piece a classy quality.
I'm currently trying to source a cheap engraved brass plaque service that meets my design requirements.
Also here's a view of the back of the prototype box-
When viewed "in the round" the box is a graphical representation of the actual "Call of Cthulhu" story itself.
