with hollywoods lack of createtivity and always remaking older movies and tv shows, why doesn't someone remake the BLACK HOLE with a darker plot and without those disgusting toy disney robots..EVENT HORIZON was pretty good but suffered from some plot holes, bot on the whole it wasn't too bad...

Everytime I read or hear anyone say "on the whole" I always think of this scene: YouTube - Preperation H
I agree 'on the whole' that the plot holes in the original 'The Black Hole' warrants that it should be remade. ;)

Supposedly Joe Kosinski (Tron Legacy) is already remaking it for Disney.

When a new film is green lighted, it is posted in IMDb with the title and the projected year of release. Sometimes they even make it to the screen!:lol

Make a darker version of The Black Hole?

Darker than a guy who lobotomizes his entire crew and turns them into mindless drones?

Darker than a guy who's robot butchers people with people with essentially spinning lawnmower blades?

Darker than a guy who literally ends up burning in hell?

What are you looking for?

Yeah, last time I'd heard, they were already starting on a new Black Hole project.

Recently it seems like you could ask about any old movie and get linked to a reboot in the works.

Could have used a sparkle vampire in that mix as well....

I am actually hoping for a remake, or preferably mini series take on The Last Starfighter. Great story and could easily be fleshed out. Not to mention it could benefit from modern effects.

I went to see EVENT HORIZON thinking it was going to be a cool space movie and it scared the HELL out of me.

I do not want any more remakes.

I wouldn't mind reimaginings -- in the sense of Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars/Last Man Standing. Change the setting but leave the core of the story the same. But even those should be kept to a minimum.

This could work!

Instead of an arcade game he could be playing an xbox or an app on his iPhone? LOL!

Seriously though.

I think flawed movies should get the remake treatment. Not successful movies. Movies that were almost good and still have their fans, but missed by a margin.

I also think it's good when movies are made more sophisticated upon being remade like Cronenberg's The Fly or Carpenter's The Thing.

Quit revisiting well made movies that only manage to get screwed up with quick cash-ins by first time feature directors for modern audiences.

I agree. Only films that had the giant flaws, not movies that told a story correctly. I am avoiding saying, "films that did bad at the box office", because some that failed at the box office have solid stories (one such example is Blade Runner. It failed at the box office, but it was a solid story).
