My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival : The Godfather

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Star Trek : MLO - (Small 'Build' / Mod

Great build! I'm a trek fan above all else, so I really enjoyed your build. :)

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Star Trek : MLO - (Small 'Build' / Mod

Very well done Alan! :thumbsup Cool thing you built it like the screen used. Much better than just a plain resin cast!

And by the way - you made me buy a Ferengi coin bank :lol

Cheers mate .... you're gonna love the next one then :lol

Thanks buddy, that's exactly why I chose to do it that way. A tad more interesting / challenging :)

And that's the spirit re the bank, its a great little fun project :D !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okie Dokie, on to the new arrivals, specifically Deep Space Nine :cool

First up, a set of Tongo Cards and Dabo Chips, a must have in the Trekkie collection section :D

Screencaps & originals

Finally, something that has been regurgitated ad-nauseam in Star Trek .... most commonly known as (drum roll) .....

The Bajoran tricorder :lol

First, here are some of the originals we all know so well

tricorigcomb-971x359.jpg

And its encarnations as a Bajoran Tricorder on DS9 ....

A Klingon Communicator on Enterprise ....

affliction-748x427.jpg

A Prisoner Restraint Remote Control (also on Enterprise) ...

.. and lord knows as what else :lol

But my favourite ..........

Quark's Holo-imager / camera from the DS9 episode "Meridian" :lol

In this episode, Quark agrees to create (for a great deal of Latinum of course :lol) a raunchy holosuite program with Major Kira as the 'main star' for Tiron, a character played by the magnificently versatile Trek actor, Jeffrey Combs.

He therefore chases Kira all over the station, trying to take pictures of her from far :lol

meridian3-842x649.jpg

At least they didn't just turn it upside down and used it :lol, they gave it a different paint job and added a 'lens'.

How - could - I - resist :lol !

The 'lens' is quite reflective against the light

Here it is next to my Bajoran Tricorder (or Klingon Communicator / Prisioner Restraint Remote Control :lol)

And finally, all put here :)

Hope you enjoyed, a have a great weekend everyone !

Very nice! You never cease to amaze me! :thumbsup
If I might ask where the Dabo chips are coming from?
And is your holo-imager a customized playmates tricorder?

Thanks Michael :) !

I picked up the Dabo Chips & Tongo cards from ebay.

Yes, the holo-imager is another bajoran tricorder I got, and modified :D

I repainted it as you see. For the 'lens', I just cut a piece of plastic, painted it grey on the back, and poured a generous amount of glossy varnish on the front, let it dry, and stuck it on :)

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - Star Trek + "multi-use" / prop mod.

:lol The card that goes with the chips is killing me!!!!!!!!!!:lol

:lol me too !

It wasn't included or mentioned in the listing pics and description, so it cracked me up when I opened the envelope :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Babylon 5 (Small Project / Pep Build)

.

Watching Babylon 5 at the moment, so decided to pay a small tribute to it :D

Here is a Shadow Vessel :ninja

ssSG-696x666.jpg

Soooooooooo, what haven't I messed around with so far in this hobby ?

Pepakura :lol !!

These are what the printed Pepakura parts for a Shadow Vessel look like :wacko

Individual parts on the right

bssb1-829x388.jpg

Parts rolled up and stuck

bssb2-822x555.jpg

And slowly sticking them together one by one .... dipping the tip of a toothpick in glue for every individual 'triangle' :darnkids

bssb3-812x548.jpg

You do not want to try this unless you want a nervous breakdown and regret ever hearing the word Pepakura :lol

bssb4-808x545.jpg

But with patience (a helluvalot of it :lol), they come out quite nicely

bssb5-797x537.jpg

And the 'veins' lined up beautifully :)

bssb6-781x526.jpg

bssb7-769x518.jpg

Parts like these do bring out very colourful sailor's vocabulary though :lol

bssb8-755x508.jpg

Finally, almost all the 'tentacles' done, and each one covered with gloss varnish

bssb9-740x497.jpg

Stuck all the parts together

bssb10-729x421.jpg

And hung it up instead of on a stand :D

Front

bss1-957x649.jpg

bss2-949x644.jpg

Back

bss3-945x641.jpg

... the rest :lol

bss4-936x635.jpg

bss5-930x630.jpg

bss6-923x626.jpg

bss7-916x621.jpg

bss8-915x620.jpg

bss9-939x623.jpg

bss10-930x630.jpg

bss11-930x630.jpg

bss12-925x627.jpg

And from 'afar' :)

bss13-919x623.jpg

Thoroughly enjoyable build ... but I will never touch Pepakura again :lol !

Nice build, the shadow ship is creepier than I remembered. I decided I will only build Borg cubes after I built the Voyager pepakura. :p

That turned out AWESOME. Congrats on seeing it through, that looked to be an eye-crossing amount of work. :wacko

Thanks for the comments kind sirs :)

My next pepakura build will consist of gluing two, flat, pieces of paper together :lol

That turned out AWESOME. Congrats on seeing it through, that looked to be an eye-crossing amount of work. :wacko

It took 8 days at an average of 6 hours a day to finish it.

There were times I was indeed sorely tempted to give it up :wacko

Then I remembered what happens when a project is put aside .... "maybe next month" ...... X 12

:lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Babylon 5 (Small Project / Build)

Alan, I think you have a tendency to torture yourself...;)
But very nice work! :thumbsup

And by the way - my ferengi bank has arrived and the work has begun...
Did you fill the coin slot on the back?

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Babylon 5 (Small Project / Build)

I am in total awe! What an amazing collection!

Thanks :)

Cheers Michael :D

Yep, I filled the slot of the bank in.

I was also sorely tempted to make a hole in its ear to deposit the strips of latinum, but I didn't have the heart to do it :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrival - Babylon 5 (Small Project / Build)

Everytime I see those shadow ships I think of Crab and smell old bay! :lol

So I must be a heartless b#$&%rd, because I already cut a slot in the center of his ear :$ :lol

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - (More) Babylon 5 + (More) Mods

Everytime I see those shadow ships I think of Crab and smell old bay! :lol

I think of every time I go to get something out of storage :lol

So I must be a heartless b#$&%rd, because I already cut a slot in the center of his ear :$ :lol

Sadist ! How could you :lol !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So while resting from dipping into glue with a toothpick, I had another B5 small 'project' going, which I finished yesterday :D

I have never been disappointed with any action figure I got, but this time, I knew 2 out of 3 were not quite right.

My favourite characters of Babylon 5 - Ambassadors Mollari, G'Kar and Kosh.

Londo they nailed quite nicely :)

londo1-458x730.jpg

londo2-807x704.jpg

The other 2, not so well :lol

Here is what G'Kar looks like ....

gkarsg-751x428.jpg

.... and here is the action figure :lol

gkarorighead-746x500.jpg

But, here he is with my re-paint :D

gkar1-471x728.jpg

gkarpcomb-979x448.jpg

For those not familiar with B5, the different eye colours are intentional on the original figure. Long story, but suffice it to say G'Kar had a human artificial eye implant :lol (true)

Finally, Kosh.

This is what he looks like

koshsgcomb-984x370.jpg

And the action figure :lol

koshorig-976x558.jpg

No problem. Got rid of the pink breathers, made the side green thingies darker, gave him a different brown tone on the front two vertical sashes, added all the 'blings', and a nice gloss varnish to the black front, sashes and the whole helmet.

kosh1-501x739.jpg

kosh2-805x701.jpg

And in usual mix & match style, placed them here :)

Wow. Killer.
The G'Kar paint job is incredible.

Re: My Prop Replica Collection - New Arrivals - (More) Babylon 5 - Mods

That Shadow vessel is just AMAZING!! I cannot believe that the patterns lined up like that. With all the twists and turns I would have put money on it never working out. Very nice and good to see a little B5 love around here of late. I may just have to break out the DVDs for my next marathon sewing session. Great Work!
