On a side note, I am running my 23" EL stip on a 2xAA inverter. It looks great in a dim environment, but I'm fining that in the daylight or in a store it still looks pink. You guys think I could beef it up to 9v or 12v to whiten it up, or is that just the effects of daylight/fluorescent light on this type of thing?
Bro, that is off the hook!
Thanks! Here's a mock up of the sneakers I'm considering. It's partially perforated black/white (maybe paint the sole black) What do you think?
You're welcome, those are very cool and they match the jacket! I like the idea of painting the soles black, it's just that they're rubber, what do you plan to use that won't chip off of flexing rubber? Has to be something flexible.
Jacquard Neopaque paint. I've painted a pair of boring white shoes with them and they've held up great with no cracks whatsoever. Just make sure you give the surface a good rubdown with strong rubbing alcohol or acetone beforehand to remove any finish that may be on it. Joann Fabrics sells it in the fabric paint aisle. MD, is that El tape from luminousfilm?
Y'know, I'm still waiting for that Minority Report leather jacket from leathercult, you've had two jackets made and delivered in the same amount of time!
Starting to grumble to myself, more than usual that is.
But the little 9V battery-powered inverter (one of which I have) can only drive "5-12 square inches of panel," which may not be enough for your needs. He also said that I likely wouldn't notice a huge difference from 9v to 12v. So I think I'll go with the 9v since its easier. Plus I'd rather not do the 12v as the weight/bulk is more than I want in my pocket.

Scroll down about a third of the way here.
True, but I'm using 3V now (AAx2) and it looks fine. I think they are referring to running the panel at full brightness. He seemed pretty certain it would be fine. I don't need to be at 100% brightness, I just need to get a whiter look in normal indoor lighting.
The shoes you posted are the "fake" version of the Supra TK shoes, the real ones have more "holes" I own them....they also have an all black pair, but no holes, they are made of satin

i read somewhere back that you can put certain white tape over the pink el tape to make it look more white when not on & add brightness to it when on. just a thought.
Sorry if this is in anyway slightly off topic, but if any of you guys want a casual Rinzler/Tron outfit for everyday, I designed a shirt and put it up for sale. Its not spectacular looking but I'm happy with how the design came out. Plus in order to keep the cost down, I set my commission at zero. If you curious what the print is, its a heatpressed foil called flex. Pretty cool. ATB Designs.
Now to being back on topic, got my undershirt in the mail, but the mesh part has nothing under it so my skin is exposed. Need to still get a white or grey compression to fill in the holes. Or maybe buy some hexagon print lycra and find someone to sew it over the mesh for me
Yeah I'm working on more but the problem is I want to add more characters but they don't let you make the designs very big and with flex if they are big, the kinda make waves and fold over. But I'll put some more stuff up. ThanksOh man, the t-shirts are awesome! Such a great idea, and executed well. I'd suggest maybe having some with simply the different identity discs on the back and blank fronts. Also, some womens' items would be cool
