I didn't know that bit about Salvation either. Seems there was a lot that was cut. It sounds like an Alien 3 job. But with the results being that the two previous movies were still far better most likely starting from the script point.
Even if Arnold isn't the focus his performance will be noted. He was perfect in Terminator and T2. Played for comedy at times and off in Terminator 3. And way over powered in the cameo in Salvation.
I didn't know that either but it makes a lot more sense that he's not the john connor everyone thought and that the "savior" john had yet to be born.
How does that make sense? Didn't Reese say in the first movie that Sarah Connor's son was the leader of the resistance? Wasn't that the whole point of T1 and T2? To keep John Connor from being born? Not John Connor's son, JC (***** ****** = savior) Jr...
Seems like people are reading way too much into this and trying to pull something out of it that isn't there.
Look up some of Robstyle's previous posts on the subject. He's laid it out numerous times. A fraction of what T:S was supposed to be actually made it on screen. That's why it was such a convoluted mess.
"I pointed out that the outer covering (of the Terminator) was actually not synthetic, that it was organic and therefore could age," Cameron revealed, echoing a statement Schwarzenegger said back in March. "You could theoretically have a Terminator that was sent back in time, missed his target, and ended up just kind of living on in society. Because he is a learning computer and has a brain as a central processor, he could actually become more human as he went along without getting discovered." "
Dangit. Guess he prefers the theatrical cut of Terminator 2.
THEATRICAL
T-800: My CPU is a neural net processor. A learning computer. The more contact I have with humans the more I learn.
John: Cool.
SPECIAL EDITION
T-800: My CPU is a neural net processor. A learning computer. But Skynet presets the switch to read-only when we're sent out alone.
Sarah: Doesn't want you to do too much thinking.
T-800: No.
John: Can we reset the switch?
Yeah, but that whole switch scene was pretty cool. I don't really pay any attention to the theatrical cut any more.

What's not to say the Terminator didn't get someone to reset the switch? Remember, he also pointed out in the scene that some minor damage to the cloned flesh heals.
I was so angry when I came out of the theater after seeing T2. "Now I know why you cry" WTF! What happened to "It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead." He's a killing machine. "That's what he does! It's all he does! You can't stop him! He'll wade through you, reach down her throat, and pull her ****ing heart out!!"
Many years later, the anger subsided a bit after seeing the special edition. At least the cry line made sense now. I still roll my eyes at the misplaced comic relief and will never forgive the horribly cheesy thumbs up as he went into the molten steel though.
uh wat?
