Hello all

Slowly repainting and modifying my Sno Wolf pulse rifle. Keeping it functional. If stripped it down. Removed the shrouds and grenade launcher as well as the stock and barrel vent. The shrouds were repainted with silver then od green. The grenade launcher was painted with testors chrome then matt black which is still sticky after two weeks and i dont know why. The pump grip was giving me all kinds of issues as far as being real tight and not moving smoothly. Im not sure if its got to do with the paint being sticky.... I used a heat gun to try to loosen the grip and i ended up melting part of it... So I found another one and ordered it. I had a 3d printed one and am currently using that one. I polished the tube that covers the ejection port and added a 3d printed grenade

I added tinted plastic to the counter window. I also filed down the pins left at the end of the barrel and repainted it matte black. The spas cage paint never stopped being sticky so i wet sanded it down to the plastic then painted it with matt black also.

Hi, I've just bought my second snow wolf m14a. I sold the first and immediately regretted it. I've got a genuine sling and taken advice on mounts from Chefs. Also 30mm granade in order. my plan is to get it screen accurate within reason. I'll need to strip it down as its green. King's army are selling a range of paints that get good reviews and hoping to match Brown Bess . Plan to cut a trigger slot for 30mm launcher and likely magnets to provide tension.
Your weathering on black parts, top barrel heat shield is superb. I come from scale modelling background and moving to 1:1 requires a lot more skill. I'll be watching your build. If your looking for triggers look to airsoft triggers, all shapes and sizes. Very odd that paint not drying. Base materials are basic so has to be the paint?
Good luck. It's a fun project.
Fwiw bbguns4less.co.uk have TM magazines THAT FIT SNOW WOLF for a tenner or so each 250 round mags. I've got three 3d printed mag bases and planning to build one up as a spare using a Thompson type mag. I'll have at least one spare if you're interested. The prints require work but are right size. Regards weathering panels and mag base plate. I'm in two minds. Given inset in the future would the guns furniture be some polymer or alloy? H&K and Glock have been producing polymer guns and lower receivers since late 70's the H&K VP70 USCM personal weapon was onf if not the first 'plastic gun' with polymer lower receiver. I'm not sure if wear would reveal shiny metal or dull black/grey polymer... anyhow, I'm awaiting delivery. Will watch your build with interest. Good luck

This may help. Sling mount points. I spoke to somone at Chefs or Ex Sussex Armoury (my memory damaged by multipule strokes). See pics. These are cable clamps/u bolts. Made from steel as plan to blue them. They fit in the stock cut outs and barrel heat shield cut outs and cost me about £1.30 I got them from ebay for ease. There are different sizes. I can measure these if of use. They look the part blued and attached. Currently just resting in place. They bolt up tight and no mods to the m14a needed.

They fit the gen slings and other modern slings.

I used the same on mine a few years back, cheap, simple and effective!

Tinted film to dull the counter is a nice touch. I'll be doing the same. Nice one.

Heres a few pics of my finishes work

I wonder if red film would work also? Like the old 1970s red led watches?
Never tried red on red. The standard display is bright, too bright imho. I'm going to use 1 or 2 layers of smoke grey I had to use on my car, the reverse lights and fogs built into the bumper and just look wrong. The smoke grey looks great on them and hasn't noticably reduced the light output. Hence may take a couple of layers on the counter. I've just blued the sling mounts and several cans of krylon camo flat black paint has arrived so I'll be getting busy stripping down to fit granade trigger mech, parts then paint & weather. And I'm changing panels to brown bess, amd dremel out the cooling slits in the spas12 type cover. Fingers crossed.

I've used the krylon camo flat black to paint a sten gun and mp40. If left for 7-10 days it goes real hard, it will wear but won't chip or scratch which is ideal. Seems to be hard to get hold of mow.
