Hi all
This post marks the start of an enourmous endavour to re-create one of the Radio controlled miniatures used to film the chase sequence (and a couple of other shots) for James Cameron's 1989 film The Abyss.
We are focusing on a 1/20th scale flatbed for now (dynamic diving). It will be 90% 3D printed and probably take a good few months to complete.
I have started off with Ron Cobb's original plans and transferring them to CAD but if anyone had a copy of the plans used for the sub in the movie (preferaly digital) that they'd be willing to send through, I'd greatly appreciate it.
And I know with the new Flatbed resto project from Dave G poor old cab isn't getting too much love these days (a 1/20th scale rc cab isn't out of the question either), just don't get your hopes up!
