Hello again.
It's been a while since I had anything posted on this site but now I'm retired I feel that I have a bit more time to do some modelling. I still have my Drax Space station Replica to finish at some stage.
I recently watched 'The Longest Day' with a view to looking for another good modelling subject and I happened to notice a Drop Container being used by some French Commandos to carry their explosives and weapons to a railway bridge to demolish it.
I went on the Web and started getting information on the Type H MKII container and it looked very promising. I already had some 1:2 scale Sten MKIIs and a 1:2 scale 1911 so I decided that this was the one for me.
The contents of this particular container varied, but the standard load for one was:
5 Sten Guns
15 Magazines
1500 rounds of 9mm ammo
5 Pistols ( which I will use the 1911 for)
250 rounds of ammo
52 grenades and
18 pounds (8.16 KG) of explosives plus Detonators and Fuses

The size of the container will be roughly 880mm long o/a x 180mm in diameter.

A Mills Bomb/Hand Grenade that a friend of mine printed for me. I cleaned it up a bit and them primed it. Details to be added later.

Putting the metal bits on. The split pin was made from some brass rod that was flatened a bit with a hammer and the split ring wound from copper wire. I then drew a template for the clip which was then cut out of brass sheet and test fitted. It worked out well, but needs to be a bit longer.
