I did a Jason costume a few years ago. A nice addition that people loved was when you kill them in photo ops.
Cut a semi circle out of a machete and dull it down really well. Then when people want to take a pic with you, you can slip it over their neck or arm, and it looks like the machete went through them.
The punters love it!
