EFNY Snake Plissken boots I’m converting

So I just had my boots altered to have longer straps... keeping it leather, added the knee pads, and trying to decide if i should add the metal plates from an old Alpine Stars boots. Unfortunately those boots are way beyond repair, but I rescued the metal. Thoughts, should I keep it plain or add the plates?
