That part is a pain indeed.
I had a few test also - it took some time to find a proper paper.
Some recommand pages from catalogs but not all are suitable.
To remove the paper from the brass you need patience.
I put the brass with paper in a slightly soaped bowl of water for some time.
You can't peel off the whole sheet at once - first remove the first layer - then I rubbed carefully with my fingers the remaining paper fragments from the brass.
This can take half an hour.
Possibly your paper is not suitable - maybe to much plastic inside which will laminate to the brass through the ironing process.
