Dune Matador Sculpture (first prop build)

Spent some time making the Matador sculpture. I've been really surprised with the final outcome and my mini painting practice from many years ago has been useful.

Due to the size of my printer and time, I printed in 1:2 scale.

Painted with:
Rust-oleum Surface Primer 'Grey'
Vallejo Model Colour 70.801 Brass
Vallejo Model Colour 70.808 Blue Green

Reflections:
  • More time sanding the original 3D print
  • More shades of Verdigris and Brass (Darker shades mostly)
  • Angle the bull properly
  • Make a better Matador Cape (Muleta... always learning)

That looks great! I printed the same model but haven't finished it yet, it's a good sculpt and printed pretty well on my Prusa mini. Did you go blue green then brass for highlights, or brass covered in blue green?

Thanks! After the primer I did a couple of slightly thinned coats of brass until all the primer was covered. Then I watered the Blue Green down to wash and did a 3-4 coats of that. After that I did some dry brushing with brass on the areas that would be most touched. Finally used the brass to highlight what would be the brightest most touched areas.
