The comedian, Patton Oswald, does a funny bit about how he wants to lose weight so he can get more serious roles. He was at a Hollywood party where the food buffet was "over the top" and he was frozen staring at all the food he should not eat. Suddenly, a "big bear paw" smacks him on the shoulder. It's Brian Dennehy who says, "Character Actors. nobody cares how fat we get!!!"
My mom, an actress and theater professor , waited in line to get tickets to see Brian Dennehy in "The Iceman Cometh" yet he sees himself as a "character actor". HE WAS IN RAMBO!!!
I am always curious about what other films actors are in. There are actors that you "know of" but they are in tons of films. They never win awards. They never get interviewed. They are never on the cover of tabloids unless they REALLY F up.
Does anyone here know what the "inside scoop" is in Hollywood? Is there a huge disparity between A list and B list actors? Is is a weird hierarchy? B list actors have hundreds of films. Can they ever go from B list to A list?
