Call of Duty - Ballistics Knife

I think the ballistics knife is the coolest weapon in the game (Like Ezio's hidden blade but cooler) but don't really know how to go about making a working model. When I saying working I just mean it would be able to chamber the knife.... not actually shoot it or anything, I don't wanna accidentally take my eye out. Since I don't have much access to metal I was thinking about high strength resin parts, painted a stainless steel color with the springs being the only actual metal parts. If anyone has any blueprints or ideas about how to build it, or even knows what the device looks like on the inside, info would be greatly appreciated.

The knives in that game were all based off of a real thing.
I'd suggest looking up a real example to see how it works. Try youtubing it. I'm sure there's some blogger in Russia that has a collection of them or something...

If you're not interested in actually making it fire, then why limit yourself to resin? If it's only a static model I would think metal would be a natural. If it's like what you have pictured, it wouldn't be outrageously hard to build...and getting it machined would not be a huge fortune.

It's basically shot out with a very large spring. a simple google search will show you all you need. Youtube will help as well.

spetsnaz ballistic shooting knife

This was after 1 minute of searching. Most examples I ran into referred to Spetsnaz, which is the Russian special forces. Therefore, if you want to find anything, that's a good place to start along with "GRU shooting knife" or something of the like. Good luck and keep this thread going. IT'd be cool to see what you come up with!

BTW: I would suggest not using a very powerful spring or making a mock spring that isn't functional since these knives are illegal, but more importantly you don't want to hurt your self. I don't want to sell you short but from the looks of your thread, I don't think you are an experienced knife-smith or specialist and the last thing you want to do is shoot even a resin blade through your face. It'd probably hurt. The spring for the knife handle looks incredibly thick, long and powerful (that's what she said, i know) and it's reminiscent of a recoil spring on a pistol, which packs a lot of potential energy! So words to the wise, BE CAREFUL!
