Building a retractable helmet

Hi, I`m sorry if this question is in the wrong section but I wasn't sure where else to put it.
Has anybody built a working retractable helmet? (Lost in space, star gate, dead space, and so forth)

I`ve started to narrow down what I want to build for Halloween, and I believe I`ve decided to build the blood dragon Armour from mass effect 2. The more I've thought about the more I would really like to make the helmet retractable some how, I have a few ideas on how it might be possible, but I would very much appreciate if anyone could point me in the direction of other projects. So that I could "stand on the shoulders of giants" as the saying goes.

Yeah, Costuming would probably be the better location for this one.

That said, a retracting Jaffa helmet is pretty much impossible. Retracting LIS and Dead Space are almost as impossible.
