Still on the go. Just tidying up the final fist before a final molding. Can't give a time scale as its a bit as and when I get time in between other commitments.
Phew..... its been a crazy few months but its starting to settle down now so here's a little progress with ive made with Biff's cane. Ive found some nice tapered canes for the shaft which I will spray black with 2k acrylic for a hard finish. The foot will be made from a machined piece of solid brass and heads will be made from cold cast bronze (this one isnt cold cast bronze...... obviously) so no paint to rub off with use. Speaking of which ive tested it for strength ( I leant in it....REALL HARD!!) so without industry standard tests i'd say it will stand up to the average walkers adventures without any issue. The name will be engraved post casting incase Someone didnt want someone elses name on their with a laser engraver.
The head piece....or fist piece is very nearly ready for the final cast. I'm hoping to have a finished cane wthin a couple of weeks.
Ready for final casting. With 2 layers of high build primer and a good coating of clear laquer the details qrent quite as sharp as they were but it will certainly cast easier. Mold on monday first pull on wednesday.... I think.... hopefully.
Small update, please ignore the "bald" patches as I just dusted the mold with bronze powder to see what kind of finish it would get and....
I'm quite pleased with the results.... I got impatient and removed it from the mold too early and it wrinkled the surface in a couple of places but again its just a test. The finished ones will be filled with a bronze powder mix so it can't rub through the bronze.
