Outsourcing the pistons wouldn't have occurred to me. What was the turn around time between submitting the file and delivery? What were your costs from Shapeways?

I submitted the order on Feb 12 and had it on the 23rd. I had four printed for $9 plus $6 shipping. It was a pretty simple part so it only took me an hour to model the part. MUCH faster than it would've taken me to scratch build it.

I highly recommend the extra cost for the polished plastic. The printed plastic is really tough to sand off the print texture. The polished pieces I received were good enough to paint and glue on.
