Which end of the 9v inverter goes to the battery and switch? In the diagram a while ago it shows the right end wires going to the midsole and strap EL, but when you get the inverter stock, that's the place that a battery connector is on.

Yes, finally I ended my Mags Project.Im using 1020Mah lithium battery and 3V inverter with my Shapeways ankle buckle with Tamiya primer.
I dont use 9V because inverters spend a lot of battery, because ovbiously have a big coil(tested and confirmed).
The reason for have a delays in my project and absence of the forum was for the BIG amount of work in Oblivion and Star Trek films(I work in Visual Effects)Finally both is finished.
Anyway, I spend about a year for making a Mags from scratch.I learned A LOT about materials, compounds, and electronics. Thanks for all forum community for the always good opinions about my project.

100%wearable!!!
100%finest materials!!!
100% from scratch!!!

Amazing, been waiting for a post from you. The shoe is superb.

so i am attempting the toe mod atm almost got the the first toe cap off to start cutting some of that glue was on so good it pulled some fabric with it.

is the cardboard sole supposed to be glued on the bottom to the sole as well?

Very hard to find the exact same finishing glue that Jedifyfe recommends but i found this instead so i may give it a crack.

Adhesive Shoe Glue Selleys 50ml - Bunnings Warehouse

it says its good enough to glue sole's down on shoes etc so i might be able to use it for the whole toe mod. gonna do a practice run first though.

I bought some of this a while back. Be careful for a reasons -
1. It is very thick and it tends to 'string' as you apply it.
2. It is brown in colour, so if you get some on the cloth, you will have a hell time removing the stain.

yeah i just popped down to bunnings and decided against it just got me some loctite liquid super glue

If you need strong glue that is cheap, look at the ABD stuff that they sell for just $0.99 for 6mm (2 x 3mm tubes). I have been using this on the mesh and once set, it does not let go.

TOE MOD DONE WOOOOOOO

lol so proud of myself ( corny i know but i had a few moments where i thought i ****d up)

pics are below the 2nd shoe took me like 20 mins to do so much easier a 2nd time BUT my glue dispenser squirted glue out the side and i got some on the toe.. i really hope i can remove it.

So my shoes look like they're going to take the full 10 days to arrive. That's right on my birthday, so that's nice I guess.

Hi, the best and only inverters you should get are these ones as they are the thinnest and will fit in the hole thats in the sole.

3v thin inverter (I have one last pair of these available)
CL-IPTC-3v-3-7FT

and

9v thin inverter
CL-IPTC-9v-3-7FT

I had to get my 3v thin inverters from elsewhere due to the extortionate shipping costs from the USA (I don't know why they can't do regular airmail like normal people!)

Any other inverters will be too big for the soles so don't bother with them.
These above are the only ones to get.

Do you still have those Inverters available?

I don't like the new site. You can't select individual pages of a thread after a search and you have to scroll to the side a lot to get to things. And it just looks dull and uninspired. I'm sure there's more wrong with it too.

Yea, me neither. I like where they were trying to go with it, but it just seems slower and harder to navigate sometimes... Oh well. Everything has to start somewhere.

WOW what a difference that toe mod has made. Well done :)

I got my shoes yesterday. The day of prom lol. The quality is pretty good, but I'm going to have to add more splatter. And they are heavier than I expected, but not by much. Also the lights look better in real life than in pictures, but obviously still need to be modded.

Hey guys, I finally soldered up one of the LED boards yesterday, and my green ones are not nearly as bright as the red ones. There is quite a difference. Should I try some different LEDs or is this normal?

where did you get the leds from?

if you get all the leds from the same place then they should be the same forward voltage drop.

i got green, yellow and red from ebay, and all are the same brightness.

once they are in the bubble though, sometimes that can make it seem a little less clear as to the brightness because of the bubbles shape.

but if outside the bubble, you think the brightness isn't the same, then maybe one of the leds is a different voltage or maybe your eyes are just playing on tricks on you.

our eyes are naturally more drawn to the red ones so it could just be that, rather than any brightness issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I got the same LEDs you did, these ones:
30 x 3mm LED Green Red Yellow Resistors 5 9 12V | eBay

According to the auction, they are all supposed to be 50mcd, but they sure don't look like it. The red ones light up nicely (almost blinding if you look straight on), the yellow ones are just slightly dimmer than that (look good too), but the green ones are a significant step down.

Interestingly, I tried plugging them in to a somewhat discharged battery (7.5 volts) and the green ones didn't like up at all, while the red ones did, and the yellow ones barely. This would make them functional as a "battery level indicator", being the red ones are the last to die, but with a full battery I'd think the green ones should be nice and bright too, but they aren't.

I might try these 12v ones and see how they look (saves wiring up resistors, too):
12 Volt LED

I just had a person buy me coffee at Starbucks because he liked my MAG's. Then he asked to take a picture with me....Uhm...OK.
