Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

The lights look great in that picture. I take it those are the factory blue LEDs in the sole? (not switched out with EL....)

I'm torn with whether or not to replace the LEDs in the sole with EL or just add the strap EL and call it a day, whenever I get a pair. Even though the LEDs look spotty in most photos, I've read some comments saying they look pretty good in real life.

I really can't be arsed with changing out the sole LEDs. As you can see, when it's actually dark they are fine. Sure, a tiny bit uneven when compared to EL but you would have to by laying down on the floor inspecting them which ain't gonna happen on a night out.

I'm just gonna do the Nike logos with a tiny 3v inverter and job done for me.

Caloss there is a mod thread for stuff like this...

..and starting the post off by explaining that you shouldn't be posting it here just winds me up furhter. :facepalm

Your project looks great Caloss, it really does, but keep it on topic for crying out loud..

Those of you who have had their V2's for a while, how has the battery and charging system been holding up? How long do all the LEDs run on a single charge? Any problems?

After Sat night I can help you out with this Q...almost:

Basically, I was too pissed to fully remember, but I do seem to recall something around 2.5 - 3 hours which ain't too bad. What happens is, one minute the sole LEDs are glowing bright, then BAM...they're off. When this happens the buckle LEDs will stay on for around half an hour after.

Hmmm.... that's kind of disappointing to hear. From what I remember in seeing Brad's picture of the battery it comes with, it wasn't a tiny battery, and you'd think the run time would be longer than that. Also, given that everything is LEDs, which are known to use very little power.

There you go, proof from the man himself. It's a thin cell battery and only a 3 volter. Brads will be mint as they run off a 9v. Sure, they take up more space in the sole and you have to change the battery.

As I found out with my poons, 9v batteries last over 5 hours with el AND leds!

Brad: It was probably more like 2.5hours to be honest and that's off an afternoon charge too.

Actually the space that is already there for the existing battery and electronics is plenty big for the 9v and inverter.

I just don't have the patience nor the time these days to get stuck in like we did last time :thumbsdown I was thinking that if I could put two 2032s in there though it would at least give you a full night with them on. Anyone confirm if the charging system would work and get twice the life?

Oh boy... well, 2 or 3 hours isn't gonna cut it for me. Looks like I'm still in for more modding than just adding the strap. I just went back and looked at a bunch of pics from the V2 mod thread, and yeah, that stock battery is pretty small. Also, I keep going back and forth on this, but in the end I have a feeling I won't be satisfied until I mod my shoes just like Brads, heel cup LEDs, EL, toe mod and all. It really looks amazing.

Also, I agree that a 9v at the moment is the best option, as
a) it powers everything for a fairly long time, and
b) you can easily pop in a new one if you're out for longer than 1 battery lasts.

His own called 'custom mags' as they are not v2 or v3s.

I agree with the above statement, also the positive side is you can subscribe to his thread and when he posts you can get mobile/email notification its almost like he would be texting you his progress ;)
