Dredd 3D shoulders... WIP PIC HEAVY

So I plan on making the Shoulders worn in DREDD 2012, keep in mind that I've never sculpted by hand before so please, if you have any advice for me, hook me up with it!

I plan on cold casting and weathering these for the final as well.

On to the build!

I drew out the pattern out on paper from what I have seen from online screen shots:

Went to kinkos and scaled it to a few different sizes to see what would work better:

I then pasted it onto a visor cutout from my Daft Punk Guy Manuel helmet:

Covered it in resin and started the sculpt: (Apoxie Sculpt)

Primer to see where I'm at: yuck!

Sanded things down a bit and I like it a bit more now:

More primer and now I'm here:

Thoughts or suggestions?

So, tomorrow I plan on straightening up the shield, but I don't have anything as far as a good shot of the shoulder pad. Is his shield perfect or a little messed up as far as the line work goes? Thanks guys!

Thought it needed some cleaning and deeper lines:

The tail really bugged me...

Added some Apoxie sculpt for more surface area:

Looks great so far, I don't think any lines on the movie one are super sharp.

It's been hard to tell, and I haven't seen the flick yet (don't shoot), and the google shots suck....

I'm trying to just makes something close that I'm happy with.

Looks fantastic mate!! Love the detail. This is something that you will offer in teh junk yard? Would love to get a set. Most impressive shoulder to date!! Keep up the great work mate.

I will be offering these along with the opposite shoulder shield as well. I started that one today and I hope to be finished in a week or so and ready to mold them up! They will all come cold cast in brass so no need to paint! Just weather them up and stick them in place!

And I know I'm not Aussie but... Thanks Mate! (love your dialect!)

@MrPinski - Sounds the good mate. Would you do stantard cast if requested? for the tighter budget people out there? Im thinking postage would be a killer for me :-(

Have to do a set of these myself for a buddy. Looks great so far dude! Out of curiosity though, why did you choose Apoxie sculpt instead of doing something like cutting the parts out of Styrene or Sintra? Just seems like it might have been a bit cleaner on the edges, though you do trade off quality for speed...

Once again, scrap Guy Manuel visor:

Apoxie Sculpt:

Fill with bondo:

Smooth it:

Build a Dam:

Fill with bondo:

Sand it up!:

Cut some lines:

Smooth it out:
