Thanks I have a genuine grenade which I'd like to strip back and do, love the way yours looks.
 
I have a couple questions...regardless of what it is - have you guys been putting clear gloss or matte coats to protect from rust (does birchwood casey rust?), protecting a weathering job, etc. ?

Ah yes, very similar to mine with the tan paint slathered on (not as light a tan as yours... and lighter than the pic below depicts)

Back and forth on what to do with it. For now I think I'm just going to take a bit more off, then see what you do with yours, heh.
 
The steel was in great condition. What you're seeing in the picture above are layers of paint over cosmoline. Should clean up very nicely.

p.s. Don't forget to flip that clamp around.

did you paint it? I'm building one for someone now with electronics and weathered it up pretty decently. I'll post pics when done.

That emitter looks almost original vintage thd9791 ... how did you manage that? ... I still have a new shiny Romans emitter as back-up but would like to weather it in time :)

i got this emitter from kurtyboy, it was weathered by boba debt. I THINK it's a Serafino emitter just after the discovery of the balance pipe..
 
Ah okay ... I think Boba Debt has left a post or perhaps even thread where he explained that process if I recall correctly ... in time I'll search for it, unless he chimes in this thread :)

:lol he did somewhere, and I think it went way over my head at the time.

On a side note, my grenade is much more brown than black/blue. is that due to different types of weathering chemicals?
