The 2099+Future Foundation Spiderman Costume

The honeycomb it really cool. It would be awesome if there was a way to make them light up lol.

I wish. :p Hopefully I can compensate that with the glow on the rest of the costume.

Why not follow suit with the white and black and make the frames black?

Well, this is partly where 2099 design comes in. I'm going with those style of frames and a hybrid inbetween the 2099 spider and the future foundation one, where everything will be red.

Your Work is amazing! if you had a YouTube channel talking about your suits, maybe a tutorial here and there, that would be fantastic!

Thank You. I appreciate that very much. I think I'd make an alright Miles Morales for a fan film. But I'm not THAT dark skinned, so I could really only be a stuntman. :p

Happy After Native American Awareness Day! Or Thanksgiving. Whatever. I've got a pretty cool update for today. I've made a lot of progress on the mask. So, here's what I did.

1) I cut out the shapes from urethane with my handy exacto knife. To make sure the shapes are symmetrical, I drew out a frame for example. After cutting it out and making sure it looks good, I flip it and put it on the sheet of urethane. Then I trace it with sharpie and cut that shape out inside of the border. Do it on the outside and it will be too big, of course.
2) Then I mixed up my latex paint, placed the shapes on an old sketchbook cover, and painted them. You have to paint a layer on, wait for it to dry, then paint another. Then keep doing that until you're done.
3) Then I painted the chainlink pattern onto them, because I thought it just look a bit cooler. It adds texture and hides the brushstrokes. I thought about using a different pattern, but I didn't want to just slap patterns onto it.
4) Then I protected everything with gloss finish and glued them onto the costume.

I'm currently gluing the spider onto it again, since I messed up by throwing it in the washing machine and the latex wasn't protected at that time. I only did it to clean the spandex and make it darker and closer to the colour of the mask by washing it with black clothes. Totally worth it. Now, for the mask specifically, I went with option 1. The hexagon lenses had awful visibility because I used them for an awful Spiderman long ago and got glue on them. And the option 1 lenses are highly reflective and futuristic looking. So, after gluing and everything, I have my results here.

Hmm... Looking a little rough. Let's make it better. BAM!

I made sure the webs go into the frames, because if they just end nowhere them they'll peel. It's important that everything is "closed" so to speak. So, how's that? :)

Haha. Thanks A A Ron. There are so many designs, you'll definitely be able to execute good ones that I can't.

I've been working on the mask a lot the past few days. To make the weblines pop more I drew black edges around all of them. A bit tedious, but I like the way it turned out.

After doing all of that, i mixed up the stuff I would use on the top part of the costume. See, I'm going to have the weblines end at the second legs of the spider, so the honeycomb pattern will be slightly different. I found white paint called "Interference Red." It has tiny Mica particles that shimmer red in the light. I mixed this with iridencent paint and white to get a cool looking pearlescent effect, with a touch of red. It's hard to see in a picture, and even in person it's pretty subtle. On top of that, I'm making the hexagons around the frames glow blue like the back symbol, but although the glow paint dries relatively clear, when painted over the hexagons the red shimmer effect is gone. But it's still white and the other honeycombs shimmer around it so it's not too noticeable. I'm also not clumping it all together, I have it streaming throughout the honeycombs for the most part, so everything is going as planned. I checked, and the glow is pretty cool. :D And of course, I'm lining the inside right part each hexagon with a black line like a shadow.

Just a few quick pictures. I'll get into the details later, but I've made a lot of progress on the web part and everything. But I've been spending a lot of my effort into making the zippers work, and I've basically got it. Just one more to add, a few details to work out, and it'll be good.

Sorry for the quality. Took them at night, so there's no natural light. Just that one lamp off camera. The full body shots looked bad, so that'll have to wait. Exams are this week, right now, then I've got my winter break to do this. The HUGE convention I'm getting this ready for is in late Janurary, so hopefully I get it done.

You're the only guy I know that can turn the run of the mill morph suit and make it a masterpiece!.

Okay wow.....just wow. I love coming across your threads Iracel. The ideas you come up with and the actual process of your Spidey suits are just outstanding. You have inspired me to try something like that myself good sir

Woah! I was not expecting all of this support. Thanks everyone. :D Now that I'm back from vacation I can keep working on this. So, here's my progress.

I'm currently replacing a broken zipper and refilling in the muscle shading. And doing all of the silver hexagons on the rest of the costume. (I was going with white, but then it looked brighter than the top part which I didn't like.) And redoing the back spider. I've also started the spine on the back, and its looking pretty interesting. The glossy spray finish I'm using is yellowing the costume I think, but that may be my fault completely for over applying it.

Let me tell you, I'm loving these lenses. My next Spiderman costume (I remember saying a while back that I'd stop. Maybe after this next one. I really want to make a black panther costume. And a batman beyond suit. And the Flash. And daredevil.) will definitely have lenses like this. Sorry for the lack of content and writing. I was on vacation and didn't suspect all this support. I will be back! Very soon. Thank you all so much.
