For Megacon 2014 I cosplayed as pre New 52 Captain Cold. The costume was complete including the suit, boots, replica cold gun, utility belt, and glasses. However, collectively I've worn the suit maybe twenty five hours and I've managed to compile a list of issues that need to be addressed. For the sake of this post I'm looking to clear up the issues with his iconic glasses (which the design is based on inuit snow goggles).
Over the course of around two months I worked on building this costume I went through a couple different designs and materials for his glasses, and in the process of wearing it I actually went through two pairs. My original design was almost like a bandana mask that wrapped around the head and tied in the back, I eventually moved to cutting a three-sided piece of plastic covered in felt, but now matter what design or material I used they just simply fall apart and don't last very long at all. Aside from not looking as well as I would like this to, I need suggestions for making a better pair/version. Has anyone ever made a pair of glasses before?
