STAR WARS Rebels new animated series!

Sabine the "Mandalorian Graffiti Rebel", I admit I have to get used to this, though it could have a cool outcome, I guess humor seems to become the main ingredient for the series, hopefully they won't overdo it too much on that part.

'Star Wars Rebels': Meet Sabine, the 'Feisty' Weapons Expert

Seeing her in action though , it doesn't look to bad ......Anyone thinking "Zack & Luther" , at the moment?Me, Maybe a little bit.

I guess the "Rebels" show, has to fit among those programs.I still don't have the proverbial "I have a bad feeling about this" yet.

A game by Sega , starts to come to mind :)

she's going to be hugely popular! we will see lots of cosplay of this character at cons for sure!

What I like the most about this, Dave Filoni encouraged fans to be creative with the Clone Wars, he in a way got impressed what fans came up with in costuming, so in the later seasons he encourages them to take that hobby a little further, by making the show more detailed , but still easy accesible for the artists among us.The Creativity of the fans is what I like the most about the Clone Wars I think. He really keeps the fans in mind.

I get the feeling Dave Filoni is kind of doing the same with the "Rebels" show, he could be taking it further, encouraging the younger audience to be creative to, making it more accessible. I think the show is going to be about fun in the first place, but also about how the fans respond to the creativity that is going to be offered to them.Like he's saying "Hey fans try to turn this into something awesome!"

In a way it's a form of interactivity.

Ofcourse the show is about viewing fun in the first place.

Padme and Xena are completely irrelevant in regards to Rebels. This show has 6 main heroic characters, 3 male, 2 female, one droid. How they will be utilized at this point is an unknown. I'm looking forward to learning more about the female bounty hunter'esque character, I dug the Katee Sackhoff voiced Bo Katan from the Clone Wars, a series which had many interesting female characters I should add, most notably Ventess. As this project is helmed by the same creative leadership I see plenty of reason to be optimistic.

The Droid "Chopper" is identified as male.

Dave Filoni: "What can I say about Chopper? He's grumpy. He likes to do things the way he wants.
Kilian Plunkett: "He's extremely rude. He's really only useful if it only seems to suit him."
Keith Kellogg: "He's not super thrilled to be doing certain things.
Amy Beth Christienson: "He's always just grumbling about stuff.
Kilian Plunkett: "I think people are gona enjoy Chopper mainly because he keeps saving the day and people sort of forget the huge mess that he made earlier."

4 male, 2 female. I like how they're proud that he's the kind of character who saves the day. Think such words will be spoken of for the female characters IF they get their own introductions?

agreed... and proof of this is the fact that the Full RC "Chopper" droid used at the toy fair was built by an R2 Builder's Club member specifically for Dave Filoni as a personal commission (and Filoni loaned him for use at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014 lego toys reveal. ) Filoni said he wanted one first before the R2 builders made him! :D

something tells me that if it was a "female gendered" droid with 4 Female lead characters and one male character you'd be whining that "Disney is targeting this to "only the female children audience" ! "I guess I won't be watching that girlie show trash!" :facepalm :lol

Unless you speak droid you have no idea what gender it may self identify with.

We're not talking about what gender Chopper thinks itself is, we're talking about what is presented to us both from the series itself and from the statements of the people who created Chopper, and everything presented to us identifies Chopper as male. Besides, I think even if it did identify itself as female, you'd still label it as a non-gendered droid, so what's the point in making that argument?

Sounds like a better Star Wars show than Star Wars Detours. Also I think your assumption that a guy like me would automatically label a show that has more female characters than male characters as "trash" is a bit inaccurate considering that a show like "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" is a pretty awesome show. I think you missed the nail by a mile there.

Oh my, maybe the ship has a protocol chip inside of it and sounds female, than you'll have 7 characters of which 4 are male and 3 are female.

If the ship is treated like all other ships in Star Wars, the ship is already a she. That is of course up to debate since we have to wait until the ship identifies what gender it's associated with, even if we get confirmation from the word of god.

BOO! Get off the stage! Someone get the band going and "play this guy off"...

Baseless conclusions can't masquerade as telling it like it is. Perhaps we should wait until the show actually premiers before rushing to condem the effort.

Well, can't argue with that logic. Extremely low expectations could be a benefit. Worked wonders for me and Frozen.

Hey, I'm just telling it like it is man. If you don't have any issues with this series being a male driven show, just say so.

And the problem with it being male driven being . . . ? I'm pretty sure that the demographic that the show is aiming for are young boys between a certain age which is probably around 5 or 6 to early tweens. If you were aiming for that demographic would you write the show to be male driven or female driven; or to be more precise, if you want the show to be successful & popular with your target demographic so you not only get good ratings but to get your target audiences to go out and buy as much related merchandise as possible so that you can keep your job?
