This conversation takes into account the events of Captain America, TWS

Id like to look into the identities of known (and possible) Infinity stones/gems.

Mind
Power
Time
Space
Reality
Soul


1. Space: The Tesseract

Confirmed Here: Exclusive Interview: Kevin Feige on Thor and Marvel's Future by Kevin Feige.

2. Power: The Aether

Unconfirmed, yet likely

3. Mind: The Stone of Lokis Scepter

Unconfirmed

Evidence as follows: (SPOILERS)

A. Its obvious ability to overpower, control, or otherwise affect the minds of other beings.
B. In Marvel Lore, it is known that the Infinity Gems seek each other out. Loki is given the scepter in Avengers, and it brings him to the Tesseract (or vice versa).
C. It is stated in Avengers by Multiple characters that the Staff has similar energy to the cube. The staff is the one object that can get 'close' to the Tesseract even though the cube is protected by a shield of its own energy. Another example of the stones attempting to reunite?

D. As shown in the post credits to TWS, the Staff is in Hydras possession. Is it affecting the minds of the Maximoff twins? And how did Hydra build an army of SHIELD agents? Did the staff, with the power to alter the minds of others, play a role in aiding them?
 
I want to know how they came to possess the scepter.

Also, I started printing this out on my 3D printer last week not knowing it would ever come back in to play... Great timing!

Guardians Of The Galaxy will, I think, give us a much better indication of what's happening. The Collector appeared in the trailer and so its logical to assume they pay him a visit at some stage, he has the Aether, The Tesseract is on Asgard. Perhaps the 'Space' stone will appear in GOTG.
 
I think the Tesseract sounds more like the Power Gem, and the Aether more like the Space Gem.

Power Gem- Accesses all power and energy that ever has or will exist, and can boost the other gems' effects. Allows the user to duplicate almost any physical superhuman ability and grants Omnipotence. (Hydra was using the Tesseract as a power source.)

Space Gem- Allows the user to exist in any or all locations, move any object anywhere throughout reality and warp or rearrange space. At full potential it grants Omnipresence. (That sounds like the Aether to me.)


I think it makes perfect sense for Loki's scepter to contain the Mind Gem.



That leaves 3 more. Time, Reality, and Soul.

One of those will most likely pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy, and another one in Avengers Age of Ultron.

Is that a gem we see Star Lord grabbing in the GOTG trailer?

Hmmm...... AGE of Ultron ..... wonder if the TIME gem will be involved?

The battle over whichever is the 6th gem could be in the beginning of Avengers III.

The Marvel movie universe keeps getting better!
 
Kevin Feige actually said that the Tesseract is the Space Gem and the Aether is Power. I think we'll see the Time Gem in Guardians since it was under the protection of Gamora in the Infinity Gauntlet comics. What I'm hoping to see is the Soul Gem and it being embedded in a certain person's forehead. But I think we'll see it in the Doctor Strange movie. That leaves the Reality Gem for Avengers 2. I think this is the case because of the Scarlet Witch's powers to manipulate reality (if they go with her House of M powers). But if they go with her probability manipulation, it still makes some sense that the Reality Gem comes into play. Of course, this is just me theorizing.

I don't think Hydra was using the Sceptre to control the Twins minds....they used it to create them.
Baron said to bury the volunteers...he was then asked about the survivors which was when the twins were introduced. I may be mistaken but I took from that they had been normal, volunteered for experimental treatment and survived having been given their powers.

Wasn't it said that Loki's staff was powered by the tesseract?
 
Thanks, I certainly can! The gem is the last piece printing right now. It will be a couple weeks before I can really jump into it, but I'm hoping to have it ready to display at Dallas Comic Con in May.

The twins haven't been created, they're sons of Magneto.

First I gotta be pedantic, Wanda would be a daughter ;)

Second, in the context of Avengers that may not be true. Marvel doesn't have the movie rights to anything X-Men, but do have the twins through some loophole. Apparently the deal in place precludes any mention of mutants or their father being Magneto. Rather than just be vague about that Marvel may have completely reworked their origin to sidestep the legal issue entirely and made them manufactured 084s. The inference I made from what Cap 2 presented was that they were the result of some lab experiment that either created them outright or gave them powers.
 
^ That's what I got too. Their powers came from an experiment by hydra, but they maybe were special before, since they seem to be the only ones who survived the experiments though.
 
I remember reading somewhere that they couldn't refer to them as Mutants or as Magnetos children due to the rights of the characters. I think this is a perfectly acceptable way to reintroduce them...although why find a way to fit these characters in - there's plenty more in the pool to draw from. I can only presume that Wanda's powers are pivotal to the Age of Ultron plot.

FWIW I did see a scene they were filming that looked like it was during WWII.

yep, thats exactly where I stand too

its tricky since the stones powers as shown have been vague and overlapping. and the color scheme is thrown right out the window now too. Purple is supposed to be the Space gem, but the one we know for sure is that is the Tesseract
