Help Identifying Star Trek Movie prop

Well just based on your description that sounds like "Star Trek V: The One We Let Shatner Direct".

The "Whale One" is Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home", which is the one that starts with the Enterprise destroyed and our bridge-crew heroes in exile on Vulcan. They head home in their beat up captured Klingon Bird of Prey only to discover that an alien probe has disabled Starfleet and is on a rampage looking for Earth Whales. So Kirk takes his crew back in time to 1986 to find some whales.
I was referring to "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier", which is the one that opens with Kirk climbing a mountain. Then they all head off in the Enterprise to check out a hostage situation on a "planet of peace" where a treaty was being negotiated or something. Kirk and crew stage a horseback commando raid on the "desert compound" (which sort of resembles a bar-casino).
This is the one where Nichelle Nichols does a naked fan-dance to distract the hostage-takers. :eek

Thanx it is V. The horses they ride in on have the same skull but I couldnt find the one pictured. I am sure it is there just didnt see it yet.

I suspect the skull was probably used as distant set dressing for one of the desert scenes, or hanging up in or around one of the buildings at the Paradise outpost on Nimbus III.

You know, I just got the Trek movies on Bluray, and was thinking about a marathon viewing of them all, in order. Although, after seeing those pix, I may just skip V... :confused
Am I the only guy who LIKES this movie? Ok, its no Shawshank Redemption, but the Spock, Kirk, and McCoy scenes are priceless. For me they make up the whole movie, and Cybock's changing hair from scene to scene :lol.

I love The Final Frontier as well. It's just like a third season TOS episode! Campy fun and great interactions between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. Sybok is an underrated villain as well.

^^^ Agreed. I wouldn't even classify Sybok as a villain, per-se, but the best villains are the ones who are tragic figures and don't see themselves as "mua-hahaha" mustache-twirling black hats. I think he truly believed in his quest for Sha Ka Ree and wanted to share his discovery with the galaxy, in the attainment of enlightenment/ascension/illumination. In the end, he was blinded by his obsession, but had the wherewithal to redeem himself with honor, sacrificing himself to save his brother and his brother's friends. That is the definition of a righteous death - something that no other trek adversary has ever done before or since.
And this movie, more than any other, showed the true friendship that the Big Three had for each other, probably the most effectively since TOS went off the air. It is a shame that these great things were completely trampled-on by shoddy visual effects, general lack of production quality and other campy throw-away scenes (Uhura's "Moon Dance", Scotty hitting his head, etc). Definitely a mixed bag, but it contained some true gems in it that none of the other films had.

^^^ I think it was pretty much determined that it was a piece of set dressing representing the skull of one of the native horses on Nimbus III. Nobody has found a screen cap for 100% confirmation yet, but little things like this get left on the cutting room floor all the time. The thread evolved into something different since that time and we will probably never know. It happens. Nothing personal...
