Started a side project recently and thought a few people mite be interested. It's for the sometimes under appreciated Goon/Henchmen of our more popular villains, in this case the Joker Goons from Batman movie (1989).

Here's some of the images I'm was working from:
batman-1989-joker-and-his-goons-dance-to-partyman-by-prince.jpgBatman1-007.jpgBatman1-1card.jpgBatman1-003.jpg

Then I came across these:

I was pretty happy with the reference pics I had but the detail on patches would be pretty hard to replicate without a total rework of image, I did however manage to find the below image and did some colour touch for circle patch:

I also saw mention on the net that the card patch looked like the card on the back cover of "The Killing Joke" so I sourced the below image:

I edited the below images to better match the jacket patches, this included colour touch and increasing size/dpi (a suggestion from a printer was a minimum of 250dpi for printed patches) which in turn meant sharpening image and recolouring to remove blurring. End results of both of my work look like this:

The end product from printer came out like this:

Card patch measures 100mm by 70mm and circle patch is 100mm in diameter, honestly I'm pretty happy with how they came out.

The jacket itself is currently being produced in leather with removable lining and faux fur collar. Leather colour same from producer looks like this:

I also have a pair of black leather fingerless gloves on way and already own the black fatigues and black army boots, I'm still tossing up whether to wear a hat and if so what hat and what to wear as a shirt.

More pics of this and other costumes can be found here facebook.com/TestEagleOZ

I've always wanted one of those jackets, can't wait to see how yours turns out.

The above images are from and auction site BATMAN HENCHMAN JACKET - Price Estimate: $300 - $500 jacket was estimated at $300 to $500 and sold for $2432, so I guess there's a fair few looking for originals, I was looking for one myself, only seen reference to two ever being sold.

Nice choice for a project. I see so many Jokers at conventions, but it is nice to have a costume choice for people who are friends with a Joker.

Yeah there is usually a few Jokers floating around at my last con I did a Jack Nicholson cross New 52 Joker with a 1950's fedora to suit my partners 1950's Haley Quinn

Now I'll be able to just buddy up with Jokers lol, be good if the missus does Harley again and we can be Joker lackies together.

Got my hat for costume and some gloves, gloves aren't the exactly style but I think they're close enough. (and thanks spidey for modelling)

Leather jacket just came from leathercult.com, they don't do fur collars, so for the moment I have double sided taped a fur collar from a UD Replica jacket I own, I think the colour has come out great, what ya think?

Always a welcomed site to see some love towards the 89 Batman.

Bit of advice, though; don't hand anyone a gun if they ask you for one.

(EDIT: I think you have to click the image to see the gif work)

Nice looking jacket, I always wanted one of them. Wonderful job, was that a design leathercult.com already had or a custom made one?
I sent them reference photos of actual movie jackets and crew jackets, so it's custom, not sure if they have a similar style (it is pretty much just a aviator jacket, fairly common design)

These are pretty much the images I used as reference.

Thanks for the info! I will look into having them make me one. It also looks like Bob's jacket has a full hand of cards on the arm, I'm guessing it is some kind of rank in the gang.
