MightyJohn that is awesome, I just got my arms pepped and resin. getting ready to smooth them out, that is a great looking shoulder bell. What color red did you go with?

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

great!! I think the color looks well. Anyway, there are some 'orange skin' effect, you should sand those parts and repaint them for a clean shiny finish.

Good job anyway!!!!

Has anyone been thinking of methods to light up the eyes? What have you come up with?
I had an idea that when the faceplace was up, the eyes weren't lit, but when it closes, the eyes turn on. Something along the lines of when it's closed, it makes a complete circuit for the electricity to light the eyes. Anyone care to elaborate/perfect my idea?

Sounds like a great idea, I've seen some people use electro luminescent wire (EL wire) to light up the eyes.

holy crap that looks awesome.....

Thanks. That's your file behind all that stuff :)

Thanks. It's Rust-oleum Enamul "Melot" (from Lowe's). It is MUCH deeper in person. It must be the shine that lightens the color in pictures.

Thanks. Thats the plan. I thought I could get it done before vacation, but no.

I hot glued 2 bolts to the inside of the outer bell and drilled 2 holes in the inner. The 2 pieces swivel about each other.

For those just getting into Pepping: Fiberglass Mat likes Hot Glue but, loves "2 part epoxy" (good for straps, plastic buckles, etc...)
I didn't have any "2 part" ATM.

thats easy peasy ^_^ simply make/take a small metal sheet/tin foil and run it along the bottom of the faceplate and where the plate meets the rest of the helm - make that your pos OR negative connection point and then run the opposite connection to the LEDs in the face plate

See the (crude) diagram below ^_^

Hey robo, two thing`s to tell, the first, and the second... jaja, no really, i have an answer, i don´t know if you have seen the dancin_fool files in the 405th are from the mark III but i love that back, is one piece whit four flaps separately, i have no pictures from the back of the mark IV, but i think the back is noot too different from what i have seen, i mean, is it missing the flaps in your back file or they are already there?

Here some pics by the way:

As you see the back is pretty detailed and the flaps come separately, i don`t know if the mark IV is not so detailed but if it is i hope this give you some inspiration to improve your back if you want it.

Note: Have any one detailed pictures from the mark IV, especially from the back, i have not been ale to fin them. thank`s for any help.

I can`t wait for the spine and neck completed, your work is awesome, keep it up.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

on the surface the back of the mk iv was much sleeker....there were a few little lines I didn't put in because they'd be a bugger to pep and would be easier to put in with a dremel...

my back file has the flaps built into an all-in-one piece as opposed to dancin_fool's multi part design....i did this because i didn't really see the point in having them separate....

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

well how can we stabilize flight while wearing your back armor without flaps ?!?!?!

brilliant lol - i was wondering how to do that myself :)

I'm probably going to apply the mirrored window tint stuff to my eye pieces... so i don't go blind looking at LEDs

just make sure that you wire them in series so that your LEDs are linked + to - and that will keep down wiring mess all over - i've made a test helmet (made outta cardboard and sharks' templates - not too happy with it but thats where the miracle of bondo comes into play) so i can test fit an old PC case fan.

i also plan on making a new one later tonight and going with a suggestion by a freind of mine - using a glossy paint over the pep files before cutting and glueing so that they stay flat

hmm a fan huh... where is that going?

and while we're decking out our helmets, what about a walkie-talkie/ bluetooth headset built into one of the ear pieces? or would that go overboard?

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

Why not go the whole way and stick a large screen phone in there with a mirror so you can run an augmented reality app such as layar.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

haha. in shark's pep files theres 2 recesses under each eye. just add some projectors there to aim at your eyescreens and use a minilaptop computer built into the chestpiece to run the hud display! XD

then you can add a bluetooth to one ear and a earmic(as seen on tv amplifier) in the other ear

before i saw how small the forearms of Mk IV/VI were, i was planning on using cO2 and yellow LEDs to make small bursts of colored discharge from the palm RTs accompanied by the blast sound effect.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - foot in first post-details last page

I saw somewhere an idea to light the eyes without blinding your own that went something like this (I can't draw well on the computer, sorry). Anyone know any more about this plan and if it works?

it seems like it should work ideally

I'm using blutooth on mine.

Thanks! I thought it should be something like that, but I wasn't sure. when it comes to things like circuits, servos, and electronics in general, I really don't know anything, so I'll probably be asking a lot of questions about those things.
