Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

Looks great man. You are in sanding hell right now but keep it up. If you don't already have one grab a mouse sander. Makes the job a 100xs easier

I don't have a mouse sander but I do have one of theses,

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

So the rain just wont stop here, I havent been able to do any bondo work in days =( I was able to do some work on the hands. I cut them down each side and installed magnets. They turned out great, I can get them on easy and the magnets really hold them together well. I did run out of magnets (i just used some i had from old name tags, hence my question about where you guys get yours) and now need to get more. Here are some pics

So if you could let me know where you get your rare earth magnets from that would be great. I have found a bunch of places online but im just wondering where you all get them.

Thanks!

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

Gotcha!
How are you planning to finish them? If you're putting bondo on these, it will crack where it bends .. but I'm sure you already know about this ..

Are you basically done with fiberglass in them? Did you just layers them once?

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

My plan was to do little to no bondo work on them. The pep file was made really good that just the back of the hand need some bondo work to make it look smooth. Also most of the hand will be covered by the wrist guard. When you open them up not much flexes. I did one layer of fiberglass resin on the outside and used the fiberglass cloth and resin on the inside. They are really strong and have no movement to them, even around the finger holes.

I will have up dated when it stops raining and I finish the other pieces I already bondoed.

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

Finished sanding these pieces and put a coat of primer on.

There are just a few spots that need fixing. Ill give them a quick wet sand then fix the problem areas, one more coat of primer and call them done!

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

Nice, it's looking really good man. Those shoulders have come out well, they must of taken a lot of sanding.

Dude, that is some hardcore peping. Props for sticking with it!

Thanks!

Thanks, there a few things I don't like about the shoulders. Since they were first ones I bondoed I learned a lot and will not be making the same mistakes on the next parts. Maybe tomorrow ill get to finish these and start new pieces!

Looking great mtb! Are those hand files the standard scale?

Thanks and no they are scaled. I used 0.875460 on all three pieces. Upper palm, lower palm and knuckles. Here is a picture of my hand with my measurements.

Re: Iron Man Mark VI Build........Yep another one!

Here is what I used for each finger.
Thumb 0.700000
Index finger 0.873271
Middle finger 0.926836
Ring finger 0.853227
Pinky finger 0.929566

For some of the finger tips I had to pull them tighter and not glue them right on the tab. Hope this is a good starting point for you or anyone that has similar size hands as me.

Np man! If you ever have questions feel free to ask me!

Yeah the sanding part I could do with out. I have noticed (from the advice everyone gave me) that if you do thin coats of Bondo to don't have to sand that much. I only did 2 coats on the biceps and finished it in a matter of hours.

I haven't posted any updates in a while but I'm still working away. Ill post some when i have a good amount done. Thanks for all the help and kind words guys!
