I got alot of positive feed back on the facebook rpf page, so i figure thread time!
This build will be about 90% eva and some clay.
Ill just kinda walk through the build and see if i can cover all the q's on my facebook posts.
Ill begin with one full piece of eva puzzle mat and added about 5 inches on the bottom to get the length i wanted, everything will be glued with contact cement only.
I made a simple scale pattern and traced it over and over again, then i traced over the pattern with an exacto which will later be expanded with a heat gun.
Next i took some time to draw and cut out various pieces thru the armor, this was all pretty time consuming but enjoyable
I began cutting out the detail dragons from 1/8 inch foam
After that i started assembling the front breastplate and adding the fins on the dragon
and with some photo love
Now to begin what i think is the most stand out, The shoulders, While i feel you could absolutly do these in foam , I think id get a more organic look with clay. I started with a simple shoulder bed i made of eva with another homade pattern.
Important to note, oil clay will not stick to the smooth eva , So i put a layer of masking tape for the clay to grab, A simple pattern drawn out, but i ended jus eyballing it and used a compass a few times.
my goal was to get the sculpt close and sand smooth once its cast in plastic. Since the left and right are the same design ill only need one mold.
Now to the other pieces , these took long sessions to do all the carving but came out great, first more patterns , Ive reached my pic limit so i will return with more pic goodness, I have no clue why some of the pics are sideways lol, If you have any questions let me know, and thanks alot for checkin the project out
