Hey all! My costume I'm entering is a Havoc Squad Trooper from the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare. This style of Trooper can be see in the Hope and Return CG Trailers made by BLUR studios.

My experience so far has been I have built two Stormtroopers for use in the 501st legion, one for my wife and one for me, but nothing has prepared me for how crazy this build was going to be.

This build has been a crazy one starting 4 months ago with the Rifle. I decided to build it using the only image i could and a bunch of screen grabs from the trailers. Built totally out of MDF and PVC pipe, it was a big investment of time and money and I think I may have swallowed a few pounds of sawdust during it! This was my first time ever building a prop from scratch.

The amount of images of this build is huge so I am going to break it down to the bare images I think you need to see, but if you want to see the rest you can over at my facebook.

After receiving the vacu-formed parts I taped them together to see what It was going to look like and how much modifications were needed to fit my skinny body

I have an entire gallery of images of the making of the rifle, but I'll just link to it as to not make this thread huge. Click here

I wanted to go the extra bit and make the gauntlet light up so I rigged some lights into it with an easy on and off button

I also sewed an undersuit from scratch which I haven't done in forever! It really helped me look beefier and fill in the armor

Then I created a bandolier and pouches to match the trailers:

I also decided that it needed a thermal detonator that lit up but was light and would magnet to my belt so I built one from scratch out of foam

and here is the final result!

This is the most amount of molding, painting, sewing and dremelling I've done in my whole life and its great to see it finally complete!

Thanks!

The undersuit is a very thin vinyl with batting and a thin cloth attached on the inside so it adds a little poof. It has the right look without spending the money on leather. I will however warn you that is doesn't breath at all. I ended up cutting out the back and adding elastic straps so i could move my hands forward. Also cut out the elbows so i could bend them!

Originally i had sewn in a Havoc logo to look cool but that was the part I had to cut out

Looks great! Just for semantics sake though don't forget to grab a pic with the "2012 RPF Costume Contest" sign though. :)

You don't have to put the full costume on for it, even just the helmet would be fine. :thumbsup
