Gee I don't know... I can have a Big Wheel or this? hmmmmm... EPIC build! Looking forward to seeing this finished

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

The BIGGER the better... but if you go in cold feet like me then a smaller scale is ok to use for tweeking right? Thanks i wont be posting for a bit. i have a ton of welding and polishing and it wont change much untill i get at least half of it completed. Thanks for looking!

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

honestly i can give a crap about halo, i think it was the little kids online that ruined it for me; but this is something i can get behind, hell i would go deer hunting in this beauty! well done sir, looking forward to more updates.

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

Thank you gentelmen for your kind words. I don't play halo nor know much about it. I ran across the warthog on a video on TV. I instantly told my wife I have to have one. I need a demo to tell me where I can tweek it.(if I could even do it) said if I'm making a working demo i want to use it some how. So I'm building it for my daughter. Then.... one for me!

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

hahaha :lolI will use that from now on. I like that! sadly i am still trying to get this thing welded up to keep moving forward. Being a dad, working man, and a husband all take time. I was able to get 85% tacked and ready to weld today though.IMG_20130920_162112_570.jpg

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

...ok, I read "mini" warthog, so I expected something...well SMALL! ;-)
This thing is just ridiculously AWESOME!!!

I hope you don't mind, that I linked this thread on the official WETA Workshop Facebook page... but no pressure ;-)
What kind of source material did you use as a reference?

Ah awesome..... I am one of the engineers that built the original Warthog at Weta Workshop, Jan, who posted earlier tracked me down and alerted me to this post, the work you are doing looks beautiful and worthy of praise, i am looking forward to seeing this as a completed project and driving around, i hope you get this painted the "age" it down to look realistic and not something that came of the showroom floor!!! when the worthog was originally completed, it looked brand new, we literally attacked it with gas torch for burns and holes, sabre saw for gouging the surface (deflected shots) highlighting worn edges etc, and that made it look realistic !!!
will be keeping a Eye on this!!!

Re: Halo warthog Mini build

WOW. One of the brains behind this beautiful piece of art!? All I can say is you thought of one hell of a piece of equipment. It is an honor to recieve a response from you. I have a ton of questions for your build. Saddly I may never see the REAL warthog in person beacuse I am in the US but the pictures I have seen are amazing! You, my friend, have got the best job in the WORLD. I promise to keep every move I make in this thread.

Thanks,
Mike A.

well since I do not know whom WETA is yet I guess it is a good thing you shared this thread. I used a papercutting file I found on google search.

Weta has done pretty much every cool piece of prop for a couple of years now....like District 9....lord of the rings...Hobbit..avatar... you name it.
They made the 1:1 working warthogs for the Halo 3 commercials
