Re: Slave-1
I cut into the plastic just enough to recess it a little bit,
then filled back over it with the UC-30 Still ended
up with the cross sections showing....Oh well! I would
rather sand them out of styrene then go back up on
the pattern and kill myself!:wacko
Then star of today's show arrives in the kitchen.....I pushed the buck
back on the platen, so the end with the big drop would have more vacuum
area. This would also allow there to be more plastic to stretch at the front
where I really needed it where the big drop is.
Time to light it up....Ah yea this is way to big to fit in the oven,
so I am gonna cook it on top.:thumbsup
Cooking 3.5mm Polystyrene Yummy!
Drooping.....but how much droop? Well I let it droop until I thought I
had enough to deal with that big drop off at the front. But I really stopped
when I first saw the slightest bit of smoke come off then I snatched it off!:lol
You see the aluminum foil on the stove...if you do this at home and you don't remove the knobs and deflect the heat that's trapped under there, you
will melt everything! If your married you will probably end up getting your ass
beat by your wife!
It formed very good I formed even the big drop all the
way down to the platen, .....like i said even after spending
the time lowering the cross sections they still formed into
the part.No worries that's why sand paper was invented!
Sanding them out....
Done....flash from riser needs to be cut away,
and the extra 3mm of plastic from the bottom
profile the pattern was built up on needs to be
cut away. It's a shell I would say most off this shell
is still close to 3mm or over 2.5 easy if you rapp your
knuckles on it long enough they would bleed, I mean
you can't flex it at all from the keel line out until you get
down the very sides even then it's tough!!:thumbsup
As you can see I sanded everything out just about perfect,
it's so thick it's no problem....I used 100 grit to start with
and went down.
