SS Betty (Alien Resurrection)

My, my that is a very perdy model. :) Thanks for posting, Al. Can't wait to see more... and let us know how the book is coming!

The Foam is dense Urethane foam. and i will update this soon. There has been a little hic cup in the funding of this project and im building it as i get extra cash. i have a ton of patterns that are ready for molding. but its going to take about 6-8 gallons of silicone to do them all. so i have to do a part or two as i can afford it. Theres nothing small on this model.

I will see if i can mock up all the parts to take a few pics. its looking really cool now with all the parts ready to go on.

Thanks Rick, glad you could stop by. dont get many visitors. feel free to stop by any time your in town.

The Betty is one of my all time favorites so it's quite a treat to see it coming together here at the RPF. However, to see it in person --especially as a WIP-- would be an honor. Understandably I'm a total stranger to you, but if I'd known this when I was in San Antonio, I'd certainly had put in a request to see it (I was there to attend a pass-in-review ceremony for my son at Lackland AFB). It's astonishing.

I am glad to see you are still at it. I understand the limited funds thing. my birthday is tomorrow, and I am half-way there in having the money to get the epoxAcoat for my Titan. I am hoping I get some Birthday money to add to the pot... keep up the great work, Al. You are a genious! :)

Hey Master Chief,
I only discovered this thread this morning and it's been captivating. It would be a shame if this never got completed —so I apologize if I'm out of line here or for asking a dumb question— but have you considered a Kickstarter campaign?
I was personally able to get materials funded for a metal shaping project at KS (copper is uber $$$ so I reached out for some crowd funding). Granted, what I raised probably doesn't nearly equate to what you may need, but it's definitely free to try. You could offer your book as one of the tier level gifts for supporters, small resin castings for lower tier support, etc.. Hell, if your original benefactor has backed out completely, you could offer the model herself to a top-tier funder (what that number is I have no clue, but I've seen crazy numbers get funding for much less valuable objects).
Anyway, I don't know if there are any design patents or copyright issues involved, but the Kickstarter community is keen on seeing art projects getting finished. This certainly qualifies and you certainly deserve every possible opportunity to see this through.

I figured i would post this in the thread before i start a junkyard thread. I will be putting up my second Betty for Sale. Either as a finished model or you can buy all the parts and assemble your self. Seeing as not all the parts are finished yet, as i finish the parts you will be shipped them to add to your model.

I have alot of parts that are finished and just need to be molded and cast. the parts that i am still working on are basically the cockpit and main engine. and just small kit parts that i was going to apply to the molded parts to give a better appearance.

If interested Please PM me and i can provide any info you need and Pics. I will give it a few days then start a junkyard thread.

Thanks Al

I'm sorry this didn't go according to plan, would have loved to seen it built in all its glory!!! very sad.

I think if anyone tried to kit this it would be a slap in the face to your hard work and talent, hope it can go to someone with talent and a builder to be cherished as it was meant.

Wait a minute, i think i must of mis spoken. The betty in this thread is fine. And im still building it. I was planning on building a second betty. And i cast enough parts for two. Those are the parts im offering up. I have built another body and have all the parts for another betty. This build will continue on slowly. The funding has stopped so its all out of my own pocket ( actually for the last year and a half ). Thats why its slow going. But it will get finished. Theres no way i cannot finish this.
