Finished a facehugger for a client today.

The mouth looks fantastic. The dorsal side looks a little bland though - was that the creative direction you were intending?
 
Looks good to me. I assume this is the old Halcyon vinyl kit? Looks a little pale, but you can see various shades going on in the skin colors. I actualy like it. What paint brands did you use? Looks different than the typical flesh colored 'huggers out there. And, yeah, the mouth is just to.....creepy. Great Job.
 
As these gets out of their eggs they are as pale as they can be and possiblecovered in som white goo. Just like babies. But the client requested thet is should be flat instead of gloss. A gloss finish would have made a better impressions IMHO

The "mouth" area is actually easy. I think it took about 20 minutes to do.
I used Model Colors Flat brown and added a litlle transperant red. puth them together in a flat dish for mixing paints. Din't mix the together very much.
Just the brown with the red on top of that. Dipped my brush in it an painted the basic area that color with a wide brush.
Let i settle for a cople of minutes and gave the high ares a beige color that was thinned down with water. As both paints (the red/brown and beige) was still wet, it mixed togther nicely. Did some touch ups on egde of the mouth area. Added a little more paint to the lower areas and painted the veins with the transperant red.
Thats about it I think.

Will see if I can get the picture hoted on another site that's les restrictive. I know what the mouth looks like, but com'on its just vinyl and paint for crying out loud.
 
That's interesting, I did something very similar with my finished one. Airbrushed the outside with the usual veins effects and so on, but the inside area seemed to work better with brushes for me for whatever reason. If you can find better hosting I'll be really interested to see these. Thanks.

PS I *like* the paleness of yours. Many of these things are done very beige/yellowish. Yours looks just like the hand of a dead elderly man. :) Nice subtle shading.

Thats really, really awesome, i love these things, creepy, but such a cool design of creature, the paint work, just stunning, send a shiver down my spine anyhoo.
Hardly borders on Pornography though...thats the silliest thing ive heard in ages!

It looks great to me...I think it looks more creepy for being a little paler in colour. My missus has just seen me looking at these pics and said "Oh that's horrible !! "..I reckon that means you did a top job.:thumbsup

Am I the only one that thinks it would be funny to stick that on someones face while they are sleeping then scream OMG WHAT IS ON YOUR FACE!
 
What did you use to seal the joints where the fingers plug into the body and the tail sections? Are these areas flexible?
