Helmet Padding - Any Suggestions??

I now am the proud owner of one of Gemini Khan's amazing Iron Man helmets and I now have the faceplate removed and am making it into a wearable helmet. I was wondering what would be good to pad the inside with, and the best way to secure it. I was going to use the run of the mill chair foam from Jo-Ann's but I think I read somewhere that it wasn't good to use. Any suggestions would be helpful.
