Tron Legacy Costume

Well given the fact he is about 1/4 of your size, it shouldnt be as bad as an undertaking as your sentry was. you can always make it a little big so the next year he can wear it too
So yesterday, my 4 yera old kid supermans off the bed holding a foam sword by the blade in front of him. He lands on his belly and slides as I wonder what the heck he's doing.
Then he asks me when I'm making his costume. Then it clicks, the light cycle arena!
"you want to be buzz lightyear for halloween? No. Wolverine? No. I want a costume like yours. But I want blue." Hmm, Tron? too much work, Anon? looks great, but again a lot of work for him to outgrow. How about Tron Wolverine? No. I look at the x-men wolverine costume and reconsider that EL'd piping is not "tron" enough. But a loose fitting leather jacket would be ideal, so I push for the Wolverine concept. Besides, it's way cooler than a civilian program.
So while we watch Legacy, I pick up on the various environmental cues and sketch up a new costume design. If Wolverine appeared on the grid, how would the sirens dress him?
The glowing acrylic claws are a given, but the costume..........

Not too fond of that marvel pic.

I'm not doing a foam build for that reason. I don't want it too form fitting.
I'm going to use a pleather jacket and pants to build from. Still don't know if I want to spend $65 on the mini ID disk with the ultimate bluray set. I'll have to make another option for an ID disk.
Here's the initial sketch.

Hi!

If you need a nice pleather wolverine suit, I can give you a contact to the one I bought from.
Attached, some pics for reference

I bought my El tape from Glowhut and I should of gotten the panels as well to make the circles on my Quorra costume. I would get it now but I can't as my convention is in 3 days o.0 So I have to figure out how to make my thin el tape work for a circle. Sigh I know I can cut it up and make it work I just dunno if I have that much time lol

Low time method: Place two small pieces of your tape side by side to make a square. Cover it with something like black tape and cut the circle shape out. Light it up and you will only see the circle area as the light cannot pass through the tape.

Thanks Mr.D! I kind of came up with a similar solution right before I went to bed lol. but yours is a better way ^_^

I do plan to post a detailed "how to" on how I accomplished all this, plus offer a service to aid in making it. I'm currently making another jacket and pants for a dear friends, and will post those pics as well. Hope you enjoy these pics. And remember to ask yourself, "am I to still create the perfect system?"

I dig it. Much more simplistic in the lighting department

The high bright, light blue reflective tape ;). And to me, it's no where NEAR done. I need to clean it up, touch up some plasti-dip missed spots, flatten out some of the reflective tape, and wire up the left over EL tape...somewhere on the costume. And we still need to go get transfer sheets for the body suit and gloves.

Which, btw everyone, they DO make polyester/spandex safe, stretchable iron-on transfers!

Whew! It took me forever to get through the whole thread! My wife and I are going to try and throw together a simple, everyday program outfit for Anaheim Comic Con.

I remember seeing some great concept ideas in the art book that's out, so we're going to pick it up for ideas. I'm thinking of something lighter than a jacket and long-sleeved. I like the waxed denim jeans too, we'll have to go shopping and check them out. Otherwise I'm thinking Dickies for pants. We're just going with reflective tape for now, and a simple design, since regular programs don't seem to have as much lighting as combat suits do. with any luck, we can finish our outfits by next weekend!

I know they make flexible/stretchy ones, but not sure how they will work on the Spandex. I saw them at Wal-mart here the the other day but I didn't check the price.
