For BTTF DeLorean Fans

Well this past weekend I took a trip to the BTTF Reunion that bttf.com helped host and went to Tunica MS to the Hollywood Casino. First it is a movie themed casino with several movie displays and they had a good prop collection. The reason I went there was they have one of Jay Ohrberg's studio comissioned promotional cars on display. It is nice to see a car as it was originally created (by Ohrberg for the studio) in the exact condition it was back in the early 90s. But it got cooler than just that. Jay had a habit of putting original screen used pieces on his cars. This car had several very neat and original items on it. Flux boxes made of wood, gold heat sink from the rear deck behind the driver's seat, and even pieces of the original exhaust vents are on this car. Also there might be a production casting of a Part 3 worm hole emittor on top. Some of the props on the car are proper vintage pieces that many collectors would dream of owning (but might not be screen used) such as a trw keypad, Clare power Supply.

The thing I loved about this car the most though was that it was built by Jay at the same time as the DMC I sat in at a car show in 1991. It is funny looking at my photos of that car, they duplicated the screen used parts of the exhaust vents as they installed them on this car on the car I saw when I was ten. As I have said for years at bttf.com and bttfparts.com when people knocked Jay's work, we have learned a bunch from his cars.

** EDIT** I have been looking over details and now think this is the same exact car. I thought I had a photo of this car and the one I sat in together and I don't. WILD!

I was amazed at just how many real parts were on this car. The infamous gold "medical heatsink" The one on my car is suprisingly more silver. I'll have to fix that now.

It's really rather frightening when you compare the condition of this car to the Ohrberg Replica still at Universal. That car had about as many, if not more, screen used parts on it and sadly, it's been picked bare in recent years. I'm only glad I was able to get out there last year and convince them to store some of the last original bits left on that car.

The Hollywood Casino car is basicly a time capsule from 92. I hope it's LEFT that way for a good long time.

I'm also glad we were able to tell the casino just WHAT they had with that car. I would have hated to see some random collector call them up and hope to try and buy the original bits off that car.

At the very least, that car could stand a good dusting

Well it is the closest to belonging in a museum that we could hope for.

That's exactly right, I never realized that before.

That's what we've been saying for years about the D's over at Universal. I'm still holding out hope that something along those lines can be done with the A-Car eventually.

Of course, by that time there won't be any more original bits left on it :unsure

That's really strange. I went down there the day before Tom and took some photos. After we talked to the really nice woman at the Casino she mentioned you by name and said you had offered to "upgrade" the car for them. I guess she was mistaken.

You have them in your house right? I'm pretty sure that bulkhead is an original part.

Hey Charles, nice hear from you again. Did you run out of nice things to say about me at the Alabama event? I guess you were the 55-Clubber of the Week to draw the short straw this go around... :lol

I'm glad Natalie was able to help you (and by you I mean, Ken) get the part number of that heatsink. I figured you already had the number when you got your pics, but I guess you did a half-arsed job and only looked at the TOP of the heatsink. Did you not think to look at the other side? All that driving, begging, and photo taking, and you never took the effort to look UNDER it?

Of course, maybe you never got within a foot of the car -and all your tales to Tom about sweet-talking the guard and getting access to the car were a total fabrication? Wouldn't suprise me in the slightest, and that's probably ALOT closer to the actual truth.

Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked and being way too snarky. Since you brought this up, I'll happily answer for you. Afterall, I should always tell the truth and be honest with everything.... right?

Hell yes I made an offer to help clean up that car. "Upgrade" is NOT the term that was used. I offered to come in and help repair some of the visible interior and exterior damage on the display. And of course I had a secondary motive. I wanted to catalogue and measure the hell out of some of the real bits on this car. Can you blame me?

Present on this car are the best surviving examples of Flux Boxes we know of. Also, it has the ONLY examples of the ORIGINAL Flexible Brackets that I'm aware of. I would have had official permission to get up close and personal to those parts -AND- help restore up a piece of BTTF DeLorean history. It's also a half-days trip away from here in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma. A FAR more managable distance than driving to LA.

Again, can you blame a builder for at least trying?

At the end of the day - you got your precious part number, you miraculously managed to figure out where it came from on your own (sorta). You got what you wanted short of a bakers dozen of the damn things at Apex for $5 a pop. So why come to this board and this thread, just to start making more waves?

What's my real "crime" SirCharles? That Tom and I beat your buddy Ken, and by association, you and the rest of your group of "experts" to some percieved punch with a couple phone calls and simple courtesies to the owner? Oh dear god no... Tom and I did something without the precious BTTF Fight Club's sanction. We're sooooo naughty.

In the final analysis, you simply don't know the full extent of my conversations with the casino and I'm fairly certain whatever KEN told YOU from when he called her is subject to misinterpretation - something you are apparently very good at.

Now, regarding the B-Car part I have in my possession. Yeah, I have it. I've shown it off here, PUBLICLY, for the whole world to see. Or did you forget that? I don't see how you could have since Offto55 has linked directly to the images from when I got the thing originally. Don't forget - I asked for it and it was given to me. End of story.

USH knows EXACTLY where it is and they have all my contact info as well. That's certainly more than we can say for a good number of other parts... which you may or may not know about.

I think everyone here can agree that it's better that they know exactly where it is, than to have parts disappear in the middle of the night like the other VSR's Counter, Gold Interior Heatsinks, Mr Fusions, B-Car hoses, and god knows how many other bits from both the A-Car and USH JO Car.

I think someone posted in your Youtube comments about how do you access the engine. Is the back end hinged?

Got a pic of how you do in fact access the engine?

Did you keep the running gear all original? Engine, trans, etc.
