Diamond Select BTTF Flux Capacitor replica - any good?

Or make your own. I found the original enclosure's dimensions online and made my own at work (I work at a fab shop). I might still have the cad files if you wanted to consider getting a local fab shop to make one up for you. It is fairly accurate (as accurate as I could get fabricating vs. purchasing).

Build your own for the same cost or have one of the decent indie prop guys make one for you for a little more.
I've seen about a half-dozen BTTF cars with the Star Car Central events, and not one of the car builders chooses the Diamond Select version over a more accurate scratchbuilt one.

I had read it boasts a metal box; the original was plastic. I'd say go for it if it wasn't for the lights scrolling the wrong direction.:lol Seems like a pretty important feature to me ... and not something you'd get wrong when building your own.
Gary did a pretty good side by side with one and a completely accurate one he built (I think) himself.
From what I remember, the botom line was "it's not accurate" meaning that to a BTTF hobbyist the differences are glaringly blatant. However, for the average joe, it certainly gets the point accross. Personally, I thought that the Diamond Select one looks pretty darned good, however, I'm not a BTTF purist and I wouldn't know the differences unless a specialist like Gary pointed them out.

From my understanding, the second run is supposed to be more accurate than the limited first run. I read an article (I'll see if I can find it) that talked about how due to popular demand they were bringing it back, but this time they were using a new designer. The article talked to this person and he stated that he saw the flaws on the first run, but couldn't fix them as it was too late. The second run was completely up to him, though. I have no idea whether or not it's accurate now, and I'm willing to bet it's not, but I would hope it's at least better.
EDIT: I'm not finding the article I read ages ago, but I did find some information. Apparently, the biggest change is that they went with the proper lighting sequence. I'm going to keep looking.

Anyone any experience with the light kit what was used for the Diamond Select Flux capacitor?
I have one of the first waves (with flasher) but now the LED kit for the three relais doesn't work properly anymore... The LED sequence works, but each LED doesn't go out completely, it it is turned on all the time, just gets weaker if the LED changes to the next...

Has anyone purchased the Diamond Select version and repainted it? Can it be taken fully apart and repainted the proper battleship grey? I want to buy this version, but only if it can be taken completely apart for repaint. thanks

Because the screen used one used a Krupps Coffee Grinder, this "bottom line" was the base of the coffee grinder. The licensed replica has altered profile thats to make it a more "factory made" component and it does look neat. So I understand why they did that.
Personally, I prefer the screen used look even though it looks like it just bolted on, which it probably was.
I thought this thread was talking about the Flux Capacitor? :lol

Thanks, I saw that before Christmas and already had contact with him. This is kit is really amazing, but not cheap... I guess, I have to save a little bit. I could easily buy a new Flux capacitor for the same money, but after I checked how the electronics are build in by Diamond Select, I rather buy electronics from someone, who knows about these things... :lol

So it is. My bad.
I saw the flux at the same shop as Mr Fusion and it looked OK but not great.
Certainly would not pay the asking price for it.
