I’m trying to get the light bars on my Viper helmet to light up. I’m using maglite blubs http://www.flash-lights.com/product_info.php/info/p11526_Maglite-Solitaire-Keychain-Flashlight-bulb-fits-1x-AAA.html around 15 on the bottom and 15 on the top. I’m going to be plugging it in to the wall and my wall adaptor is DC 9 volts / 600 ma. I have the lights in sets of 3 in series (9 volts) . When I turn on the one set of lights they are perfect when I add the second set all the lights go dim. I’m guessing it has to do something with the amps?

3 bulbs in series connected to 9V would dissipate 3V per bulb, yet they are designed to operate off ONE AAA battery (1.5V DC), so, you're actually doubling the power that they need to operate. You should be able to run 6 in series (9 / 6 = 1.5).

But, yeah, sounds like you don't have nearly enough juice to run 30, 1.5V bulbs.
