Don't believe anyone's gone out of their way to copy the SPH-4.
I just bought two fixer-uppers and had to buy the replacement parts for them - $125 for the helmets, $280 for the parts!
I did the same thing.
I bought a messed up one that had been lying in the Texas desert for many
years. Only had the styro foam liner and some track brackets.
Now look what I got....
I bought a couple donor helmets, took parts I needed,, and resold them on
ebay. The hit one those was minimal. I think Tarim-rex bought one of my
cast-offs. Be careful, and get the correct size.

There are some cheap helmets on eBay that are knock offs of some kind of military helmet, but they're not much like an SPH-4.

Looks like an AL meeting in here. 
Yeah about three or four years ago the Chinese knockoffs more closely resembled an SPH-4, however these days the ones one ebay look more along the lines of an HGU-26.
Russ bought one of the old ones back then. Maybe he'll chime in?
I got my SPH-4 off ebay and other than the foam having gone bad (and a nightmare to clean out), it was in very good shape.
When I was looking last year they went for $150 to $250 (EDIT I just checked- mine was $285 :unsure ).
