Following my Martian War Machine from junk, last year. A new project was required. This was to be a two person ( soon to be three, plus a long list of contributors! ) build, to complete in time for a local Steampunk Festival here on the south coast of the UK. We were spurred into action by Herr Doktor, who complemented us on last years display, stating that he looked forward to what we would bring this year..We had hoped to bring all the same stuff! However, challenge accepted.
We picked Boilerplate, the metal soldier from 1893, as our subject matter. A small model was first produced, turned from timber, as reference. From mid-May build commenced on the full size model. We are now days away from vinyl stickers being delivered, with the event taking place at the end of September. So, rather than showing the build in sequence..here is Boilerplate, with his captured German prototype anti-tank rifle, at our clubhouse in Gosport.
