Sewing foam into clothing - is it washable?

I see a lot of costumes that incorporate foam sewn into pieces of clothing to simulate armour or muscle padding and IMO the effect looks really cool (the only example I can think of right now is Robin's suit in the Arkham City game, but I wanted to do something similar with a red compression shirt I bought and some pectoral/abdominal pieces made from thin craft foam sheets). However, I also see a lot of sites that do not recommend washing craft foam because of how difficult it is to dry. So when sewing foam into your costumes, how do you keep them clean?

Kind regards,

I have just made a sailor moon cosplay and I have glue the pendent on the front of my top but it’s Made for craft foam can it still go into my washing machine.
