Hey
BrundelFly and
masterjedi322 ! I wish I could have responded sooner, I love pointing people to answers that I've found over the last couple of years.
One of the best places to start learning about building lightsabers is at Madcow Rob Petkau's Youtube channel for The Custom Saber Shop...
TheCustomSaberShop
There's also his personal Youtube channel which highlights his lightsaber builds and is a good source of inspiration for figuring out how to achieve the look and function of what you want your lightsaber to be...

Another of the great Lightsaber Wizards is Irvin Plecter aka Erv from Plecter Labs (the guy who made the Crystal Focus, Nano Biscotti, etc, etc.). He has a few videos of his own on his Youtube channel and has a delightful accent that makes me giggle while I learn. There's no better way to learn than through doing something fun...

When you want to start building your own lightsaber bodies, chassis, and crystal chambers there are several other Lightsaber Wizards to glean information from:

The list goes on but this will certainly get you started!
Remember too, there's a lot of information out there, (some of it for older style single LED or single multicolor LED - there's folks out there that have been doing this a long time! Even Tri-Cree is becoming old compared to Neo-pixel), and there's a lot you'll have to sift through to find the answers you're looking for, but the math formulas for resistors, basic wiring diagrams, and the like are still very beneficial. Read, read, read, print off pages with good information or parts or ideas or whatever, take notes and annotate your bookmarks. For example: "LIGHTSABER - PART - RESISTOR" or "LIGHTSABER - TUTORIAL - SOLDERING". When you end up with a bazillion bookmarks it will most certainly help you get back to that specific bit of information. I have a stack of paper several, several reams of paper high on "How to Build a Lightsaber". It's become a little daunting, but the information is there when I need it. I stack different clumps of sorted information horizontally and vertically to help me sift through the stack more quickly. I really should get some labeled files or something. Asking very specific questions in the future to help you figure out what you don't understand or know yet will help you get the answers you're looking for. But I've found you do need a basic understanding of many different disciplines to help you define those questions. Rob and Irv's videos will help you build up your knowledge base and you'll quickly begin to understand the basics of how to build a lightsaber. From there it's up to you to read and learn for the specifics of your lightsaber's individual parts. I've enjoyed learning what I have so far, and there's still more information to absorb and skills to perfect.
I hope this helps! Good Luck on your lightsabers!
Note to self: bookmark this post "How to Build a LIGHTSABER! A beginner's Guide", that's a lot of good information, and a lot of typing to avoid for the next time I want to pass along this info.
