1/72 Cloud City Diorama with PG Falcon and FM Slave 1

Looks pretty good to me. I'm not going for exact here... Just a general likeness. So far I have 8 layers on the bottom hull with two more to go.

Got my first bread board with a 3.3-5V power supply. This one will be powering the lights for my Slave 1.

4518158[/URL]]Why a breadboard this time? (I’m grappling with lighting my Tiny Falcon, but am very nervous, so looking for all clues,)

I've neve used one before, but it allows for more control. The power supply attaches right too it. My main thought here, though, is to eventually implement a basic Arduino setup so I can add some different lighting effects. The next step is too add an LED driver so I can adjust the intensity of some of the leds.

Last night I tested out the breadboard with the power supply unit and the lights I have on my Slave 1 up to this point. I'm ordering an LED driver to 'tone' down some of the lights since they are being powered at full steam and a bit too bright in two areas. The ones I need to shine a bit less bright are the ramps lights and the one in the main cabin above the entrance ramp. I also need to add an LED in the lower seating area so it can so more of the complete interior.

Working on the wings, now. I'll be scratching up a couple hydraulic arms for the wings as the ones provided were static and not acceptable for this build.

Here's my 'functional' hydraulic wing component for my Slave 1. I made two and will prime them and then paint and glue them

Super cool , clean work there mate ! , do they actually move - I mean compared to the supplied ‘ static ‘ parts you mentioned ?
Either way she’s (?) coming along beautifully :p

Thanks, Ged! They do offer some minimal movement, but since it's going to be static, I don't need them to be fully functional. In order to get them to work properly would require some additional engineering to the wings. I have another Slave 1 from FineMolds that is Jango Fett's, so I will most likely make that 100 %.

Korben , apologies in advance if this was asked before in an earlier post , but that ‘ console ‘ you’ve nicely lit up on the lower level with cargo containers - it reminds me of the falcons cockpit console . Is that what it’s based on ?..., secondly , will you be installing any sources of incidental lighting within this area to make it more prominent ( easier to see ) once the main hull is attached..., perhaps a couple of wall lamps (smds/LEDs) on either side of the ramp entrance to help illuminate your added detailed work ?

:cheersGed

Ged, no worries at all, mate! That console is from the PG Falcon. I ordered one from 308bits on Shapeways for my Falcon, so I figured why not mod the kit one a bit and use it in the Slave 1... There is a cabin light attached to the inner upper hull that will shine down on the interior. I'm finishing up the upper hull this week, so I'll be able to assemble it all and show the lighting inside.

I ordered an LED driver that comes in the mail today. The LED driver will allow me to adjust the 'brightness' of certain LEDs in my array. Of course, it's not really the brightness that is reduced. What actually happens is that the LED is turned on and off at a certain amount times per second to give it the appearance of being dimmer. I'll be able to show that later tonight and give you a better idea of how it will look when finished.
